First week of cardiothoracic anesthesia done! Experience with central lines, PA catheters, a double lumen tube, coming on and off bypass, and learning the "dance" of a cardiac surgery.

So much more to learn, but so happy to be in the types of cases that led me to anesthesia!

One interesting case from the morning was @DrBridgetLee who presented on MRSA endocarditis with a tricuspud valve vegetation and purulent tamponade (700cc drained!). Didn't get a pic of the vegetation but you couldn't miss it!

Just heard from @MDMankad about perivalvular regurgitation - who is at risk, how we classify it, and how it can be managed. Great clips showing resolution of the leaks, especially after valve-in-valve TAVR. Didn't know you could sync up echo to fluroroscopy, very cool!

Up next was Dr. Joseph Meyer on strain imaging in stress echocardiography. To incorporate strain into stress echo, 'normal' must be established, image quality needs to be improved, and noise from observer variation reduced.
