Folks, help me to change my negative perception on the ZiG by answering the following questions:

1. The GOZ has refused to compel all markets to accept the ZiG (the GOZ has refused to enforce multi currency regime - selective application of the law) (e.g, fuel, passports, duty, etc). By doing this, GOZ has refused to create demand for the ZiG. (i) In doing this, GOZ has given the black marker a massive lifeline? (ii) If GOZ refuses its own currency, isn't that the GOZ is basically telling the market that it has no confidence with its own currency? (iii) How can the GOZ expect us (ordinary citizens & businesses) to accept the very same currency which it has rejected?

2. The @ReserveBankZIM has reduced interest rate to 20% per annum. This is too low for a weak currency weak currency being ravaged by inflation and exchange rate spiral. (i) Are we not going to see renewed speculative borrowing, resurgence in black market activities, exchange rate spiral and inflation?

3. Is it not given that the @ReserveBankZIM decision to retain 25% of exports will result in printing of money? The Governor of @ReserveBankZIM said that he will not print money but will allow banks to trade amongst themselves 50% of the 25% retained forex while treasury will also use its budget to pay for the 50% of the retained forex. The proposition by the Governor is not satisfactory/practical. He is obviously forgetting that he is likely to retain US$1.8 billion if we use average annual exports of US$7.2 billion. (i) If he allocate 50% of US$1.8 billion to the banks, where are the banks going to get an equivalent of ZiGs amounting to US$900 million when the current stock of ZiG in the banking sector is around US$80 million? (ii) Again, if he allocates the remaining 50% of the US$1.8 billion to treasury, i.e., US$900 million, where is the treasury going to get the ZiGs equivalent to US$900 million considering the fact that the budget is not even adequate to cover the effects of the devastating drought and most importantly, the treasury's budget has been extensively eroded by exchange rate spiral & inflation?

4. It is a fact that the best and the most effective strategy which can be used to defend a country's currency is to build a highly productive economy. In the absence of robust structural policies (industrial, agricultural, trade and energy policies) and supporting institutions such as industrial development banks (i.e., development finance institutions for the manufacturing sector), how will the economy support the ZiG especially against the background that we are spending over US$4 billion importing commodities which can be produced locally (chewing gums, tissue and paper, fruits and vegetables, soyabean, cereals, pharmaceuticals, biscuits, beverages, etc)?

5. In view of the fact that the national psych on currency issues is on wired on the premise that whenever an individual is paid in the local he/she runs to offload on the black market with a view to preserve value (i.e., due to drought of confidence), how is GOZ going to address this problem since it rejected our advice on the need to enforce a multi currency regime without discrimination?

6. In view of the fact that over 80% of the economy is informal and it uses its own informal rules (not MPS), has its own governor, banks (mattress bank, pillow bank, tin bank, etc), how is the GOZ going to enforce the acceptability of the ZiG (and reduce black market activities) considering the fact that GOZ refused to enforce the use of ZiG in critical areas such as fuel, passports, payment of duty?

7. Is the GOZ aware that the reason why ZiG is accepted today is for easy change (in the voice of Hon Chinotimba)?

At the very minimum, if GOZ adequately address these questions, I will lead from the front supporting the ZiG.
