Israel is officially shutting down Al Jazeera in Israel, meaning journalists working for AJ will not be allowed to broadcast from Israel.

But there's another aspect here, other than panic over narrative disintegration: AJ is a Qatar-owned media organization, and Qatar is at the very heart of the negotiations between Israel, the US and Hamas.

This very public slap to Qatar signals Israel's dismissive view of the Qataris, and must also be taken to mean that Israel is doubling down on war, isolation, violence, and genocide.

This, at the height of negotiations for a possible deal, tells us all we need to know about Israel's choice.
