USC Baseball is the winningest team in CWS history, with 12 National Championships. They haven’t made it back since 2001, and got 2 outs away today, but couldn’t hang on.

The two SEC squads eliminated in supers, both by fellow SEC teams, have to be gutted.

For Auburn, that's the third straight season it's been eliminated on its home turf, with the last two coming in a super as a top 4 seed.
The silver lining is that Butch has already gotten the Tigers to Omaha 2x, so it's not as if it's a looming hurdle Auburn can't clear. This was the 5th super in the past 8 seasons, and I'd be shocked if they aren't continually in the mix.

For Mississippi State, it had an 8th inning lead in game 1, and a 9th inning lead in game 2, against arguably the best team in the country, but couldn't close out either game. Those two will sting for a while.
But on the whole, I think the O'Connor era at State is about to take off. I believe it was @Mike_Rooney who used the Dan Hurley "if you're gonna get em, you better get em now" line, which feels spot on.

I'm not necessarily against it, but I think baking in "guaranteed 1st overall" is sorta slanting the responses.
