i was invested all the way through, it's just my kind of story, but i think a lot of readers who start wondering what the point is would come back around by the end
One of the best books of the 21st century? Seriously? I'm two thirds through this book and it does nothing to me. Those who have read it, what do you think?
my personal definition of "queer story" is strict, i fear... if the plot itself isn't at least partly focused on queerness, it's a genre novel that happens to feature queer characters, not a queer story
@slushieverse i don't like any of this author's work. i can't do it. i hate the concepts of her stories and i hate the style of her writing. and it's so popular i feel evil for hating it 😭😭
also this isn't like directed at op, it's just the most recent tweet i've seen on this discourse 😭
and for clarity - i have standards, i just don't think they lie in genre distinction
Remembering that one post about an avid fantasy reader who wanted to expand his horizons by reading classic and world literature, and when he came back to reading fantasy he couldn't read it anymore because so much of it was cringe and badly written
idk. i've read and enjoyed many classics. i've also read and enjoyed stories like "scum villain's self saving system". my takeaway is readers should broaden their horizons and stop trying to appear "literary" like just live life.
