A South African will never received such a high payout.

A Swiss billionaire in 2008 was paid R500 million after being involved in a motorbike accident, mostly his fault.

Illegal foreign nationals are also awaiting payments for their claims instead of arrest and deportation.

The major problem here is the RAF Act, which allows “any person” to submit a claim.

The Act needed to be amended a long time ago but we are led by fools who would rather complain about RAF liquidity and subject South Africans to delays in their payouts instead of dealing with a problem.

And why are government institutions operating in silos? Home Affairs should have MOUs with all other government institutions, including healthcare facilities, where they can trace illegal foreign nationals and detain them.

RAF must get its house in order. The Minister of Transport and the Portfolio Committee on Transport must stop being useless.

“In respect of Count 3, you are sentenced to pay a fine of R20,000, alternatively to undergo six (6) months’ imprisonment.

“In respect of Count 4, you are sentenced to pay a fine of R20,000, alternatively to undergo six (6) months’ imprisonment.

“In respect of Count 5, you are sentenced to pay a fine of R20,000, alternatively to undergo six (6) months’ imprisonment.

“In terms of Section 280(2) of Act 51 of 1977, the court orders that the sentences imposed in respect of Counts 2, 3, 4, and 5 run concurrently with the sentence imposed in respect of Count 1.”

SGT NKOSI APPEARS IN COURT

Sargeant Fannie Ezekiel Nkosi (42) who is under suspension, attached to the Anti-Gang Unit of the South African Police Service, appeared before the Pretoria North Magistrates’ Court for his first appearance.

The accused faces charges of unlawful possession of explosives, 3 counts of failure to safeguard firearms, 8 counts of failure to safeguard ammunition, defeating the administration of justice, failure to mount a stand up safe as per the SABS 953-1/2 and theft.

It is alleged that the Task Team emanating from the Madlanga Commission received a tip off regarding the unlawful ammunition at the accused’s place of residence.

Thereafter, on 02 April 2026 the task team executed a search warrant at the accused’s place of residence in Pretoria North.

Upon the execution of the search warrant, the police found firearms, ammunition, a stun grenade, South African Police Service police dockets and state issued items were discovered at various locations within his premises.

During the search a substantial amount of cash of more than R50 000 was concealed beneath a mattress.

The accused was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for the origin of the money.

Following the search, the accused was arrested and remanded in custody.

The court granted an application by the State to postpone the matter for bail investigations.

The matter has been postponed to 13 April 2026 for bail proceedings.

The State intends to oppose the release of the accused on bail.
