The latest suicide statistics for Scotland have been published. 704 people were lost to suicide in 2024, which is a decrease of 11% compared to last year.
While this is welcome news, our thoughts are with all those who lost a loved one to suicide.
As part of the 10 year strategy Creating Hope Together, there is a lot of important work across government and across society ongoing, but we must not be complacent because each death is one death too many.

We’ll never forget the lives we lost on September 11, 2001. Let’s continue to honor their memories, and the courage of our first responders who put themselves in harm’s way.
This is a vote for a talented man, for decency, and also a powerful message to the BBC that they made a huge mistake by both appeasing and disproportionately platforming the far right. Shameful
So sad to read this. When I worked and lived in the North East I learnt a huge amount from @KevinStewartSNP who is a phenomenal campaigner, elected rep and just a fantastic guy. Wishing him all the very best 💛.
Gary Lineker on winning the National TV Award,
"It's not lost on me why I might have won this award"
"Aside from presenting Match of the Day, the most iconic football show for 26 years"
"Also, I think it demonstrates that perhaps it's ok sometimes to use our platform to speak up on behalf of those who have no voice"
@GaryLineker Legend 👏
