Otto is happy that his mom has accepted a position as an Assistant Professor at the University of New England (@unetweets)! She’ll get to teach oceanography and continue her research on #plankton in the Gulf of Maine. And, Otto will be back in Maine close to his grandparents!

We may not have placed 1st but we were #1 in spirit! UNE plankton lab had fun participating in the UNE Marine Science Center Olympics featuring a survival suit tournament, crab toss, blind pipetting, pin the tail on the lobster, and more.

The weather didn’t stop us from doing our biggest day of sampling from Saco Bay to 12 miles offshore! Pretty views of the coastline too.
