Update on The Tower Bridge Mystery, need a name for the casino where some of the main characters first meet. I like The Jack of Clubs, conjures up an image of either a classy joint, or somewhere perhaps a bit rougher #sherlockholmes https://t.co/d2a4LGvG01

Update on The Tower Bridge Mystery, a couple of ideas on the start, one with the more usual Lestrade visit to Holmes, the other involves a new character visiting Holmes, reporting his worries about his missing friend #sherlockholmes https://t.co/d2a4LGvG01

40 years ago today, at 9pm on Tuesday, April 24, 1984, ITV aired the very first episode in its wonderful series of Sherlock Holmes adaptations starring Jeremy Brett as the great detective. #GranadaHolmes40 #SherlockHolmes

[Pat Walsh Writes @PatWalshWrites]

It's a score draw - both superb in their own era/way - Basil Rathbone was first SH I saw in all those classic old films of the 1930s era, then Jeremy Brett also superb in the 1980s era TV programs as SH #sherlockholmes

Basil Rathbone vs. Jeremy Brett:
Who was the better Sherlock Holmes actor?!!!. SH

Back at 221B Baker Street: 'Anyhow, it turned out that George Wathley, Nathaniel Johnson and I were all members of the Fellowship of Swords.' #sherlockholmes #beheadedsmuggler https://t.co/3ziDQB5I2H

At Limehouse: With a further stretch of our legs, and a small piece of fortune, we then managed to locate the opium den that Holmes had been told about. #sherlockholmes #beheadedsmuggler https://t.co/3ziDQB5I2H

Back at 221B Baker Street: We three were sat in chairs close enough to the fireplace for it to warm us, and Holmes started the conversation. #sherlockholmes #beheadedsmuggler https://t.co/3ziDQB5I2H
