Assisted Suicide Campaign Update:
Following the failure of the Assisted Suicide Bill in the House of Lords in April, campaigners continue to highlight concerns about the implications of legalising assisted suicide in England and Wales.
(The Assisted Dying for Terminally Ill Adults (Scotland) Bill - a separate but similar Bill to the Bill for England and Wales - was defeated in a vote at its final stage in the Scottish Parliament, in March.)
Together's @Amanda_M_Hunter features in a new podcast series with @ukmfa1, examining a range of issues relating to the Bill and assisted suicide more broadly.
👉 Episode 1 reviewed the status of the Bill and developments in Parliament: https://t.co/hnlyMqOJ3T
👉 Episode 2 focuses on the potential impact on palliative care provision. The discussion features Carol Davis and Angelina Ireland, Director of Delta Hospice in Canada, who describes the significant effects that Canada's Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) regime has had on palliative care services: https://t.co/oz8eVUw7iV
👉 Episode 3 examines the drugs used in assisted suicide in jurisdictions where it is legal and the lack of detail on this issue within the proposed legislation: https://t.co/9h4q9D1qfr
👉 The upcoming Episode 4 will focus on the potential impact on the NHS and on the relationship between healthcare professionals and patients.
Amanda also spoke in Paris at an international conference on euthanasia and assisted suicide in Europe, bringing together speakers and organisations concerned about the expansion of such laws across the continent: https://t.co/CBXt49zvcA
Meanwhile, attention is turning to the Private Members' Bill ballot.
While several MPs who were drawn highly in the ballot are known supporters of assisted dying legislation, some have already indicated that they do not intend to introduce a new Assisted Dying Bill.
There also appears to be limited appetite among MPs to pursue the use of the Parliament Acts to force such legislation through Parliament.
Further clarity is expected following parliamentary developments later this month.

DIGITAL VETERAN CARDS (ONE LOGIN): "It’s just a way of controlling us... it’s not safe!" – Gary Doyle
Govt using veterans as "guinea pigs" on One Login system
One Login is steadily bringing more personal information into one place
Where this is heading needs to be properly set out to Parliament
People deserve clarity on what kind of national system is being built in their name @UKLabour@beverleyturner
Ed Davey who has been shouting his mouth off about banning free speech (X) this afternoon.
Mr Ed lives in a £3 million mansion in leafy, stock broker belt, Surbiton.
I just asked Grok how many asylum seekers have been sent to this area & guess what?
NO INFORMATION!
Historically just 68 were housed in Kingston, some years ago.
Can anyone see the problem here?
🚨 BREAKING: Governor DeSantis is calling for the IMMEDIATE IMPEACHMENT of Judge Tiffany Baker.
Judge Baker released a child rapist who was a KNOWN danger to society.
While out on bail, the rapist tortured and killed a 5 year old little girl.
Should she be impeached?
Conor McGregor has reacted to the Belfast attack:
“Close the borders. Enter IPAS centres militarily and remove all illegal entrants from this island. Inviting and financing mentally deranged people from the 3rd world is a hard no. Get them out. Stop them coming. We say no to this.”
While politicians wring their hands and deny reality, McGregor says what millions are thinking.
Ireland is under invasion. The time for talk is over.
Close the borders. Remove the invaders. Ireland for the Irish.
South Wales Police will now keep a record of non-criminal anti-Islam speech.
Officers are ordered to log any criticism of Islam that goes beyond what they deem “legitimate.”
This is a blasphemy law through the back door.
Meanwhile, anti-British, anti-Christian or anti-Semitic speech gets a free pass.
The UK is losing free speech at the hands of two-tier policing.
Criticise Islam and you’re logged. Criticise Britain and you’re ignored. This ends now.
Nigel Farage now claiming Senior Restore Britain Commentators want to kick jews out of the country
More lies from Farage
No Restore Britain commentator has ever said this
🚨 Facial recognition surveillance is expanding rapidly across the UK.
Police are rolling it out on our streets and making up the rules as they go
Today we've written to the @ukhomeoffice demanding any future laws rein it in and protect our privacy.
Costa Kid confronts the London police sergeant in charge of policing the protest over a Sudanese immigrant attempting to behead a man in Belfast.
The sergeant smugly dismisses every concern, telling him it’s “just your opinion.”
This is the face of two-tier policing.
While our people are being slaughtered by imported savages, the police gaslight us and protect the narrative.
The contempt is mutual. The people have had enough.
Keir Starmer has announced that Dublin protesters will be immediately dragged through 24-hour fast-track two-tier courts.
Meanwhile, cases of migrant rape against children receive bail and £200 fines.
This is the system in action.
Patriots who speak out get crushed.
Predators who rape our children get a slap on the wrist.
Starmer’s Britain: justice for the invaders, punishment for the natives.
This ends when he is gone.
For those who do not believe that academic freedom and free speech are under attack on university campuses, look no further than the case of Dr Michael Foran.
Foran, an Associate Professor of Law at the University of Oxford, has announced that he was forced to cancel the remaining two lectures in his four-part series on gender law after being subjected to sustained abuse, harassment and disruption from trans activists.
Activists disrupted two out of the four planned lectures by walking to the front of the room, addressing the audience directly, denouncing Foran as a bigot and a transphobe, and urging attendees to walk out.
The protesters then declared — both hypocritically and hysterically — that Foran “will not be convinced by your arguments”.
Surely, if these students wanted to prove their point — or expose flaws in the lecturer’s position — they should have listened to the lecture and engaged in debate during the question-and-answer session.
It is time we called these activists what they are: militant authoritarians who deploy a heckler’s veto. So uncomfortable are they with open debate that they seek to silence those who choose to follow the law rather than conform to their worldview.
And what has the University of Oxford had to say? Very little of substance. Universities must do more than pay lip service to their legal obligations to protect free speech.
Indeed, an anonymous source from the university who attended the lectures has claimed that the Proctors’ Office gave permission for the protests to proceed.
Enough is enough.
