@Simmons__ Given we’ve been heading in the wrong direction for 40 years and 35 of those years have had tax rises then can only assume Burnham is going to go on a tax cutting spree, right? 🤔
@BBCPolitics Might be worth listening to someone who has employed over 4,000 people in the uk, paid over hundred million pounds in personal tax in a single tax year and company paid 00s of million in tax actually
@ZacGoldsmith Disappointing to read this take. The local district council was Tory until 2022, and the swing to the Lib Dems clearly reflected feeling w the Tory government at the time.
Same for Bicester, before boundary changes,I suspect it would have remained Tory, if not for Boris and Liz
-Impressed with Gore & Donley. Donley & Palmer could be an issue for JW selection wise, don’t think they can both play without leaving us too open.
-Still hopeful for the season. New players need to bed in, the best XI needs to be figured out and right shape #ltfc
Post Stevenage thoughts:
-Foul in the build up to Stevenage’s first goal, but Keeley still wasn’t good enough. Don’t agree with the consensus view on Keeley, too many goals that I think he should be saving.
-Joe Johnson isn’t yet good enough. A LB/LWB should’ve been brought in.
@SSE_LTFC I agree we need a better LB, but the bigger issue today imo was the balance of the midfield 3. You can’t have Donley and Palmer together, esp away from home, as it leaves you too open. Made even worse with Walsh at DM, as for all his strengths, athleticism isn’t one of them
Once upon a time, it was Italy’s economy in the doldrums. Today Italy’s borrowing costs are lower than Britain’s. Markets and investors have more confidence in Georgia Meloni’s Italy than in Labour’s Britain.
People wrote Prime Minister @GiorgiaMeloni off, saying she wouldn’t last six months. In 10 days she will be leading the longest-serving government in the history of the Italian Republic. She is a straight-talking, no-nonsense woman who knows what she believes and stands her ground.
She has restored confidence in Italy, brought job creators back and shown what serious centre-right government can achieve. I wanted to understand how she did it, because after Labour, Britain is going to need exactly that kind of resolve and Conservatives are going to deliver it.
Government has no money. We don't take anything called 'government money' in. We only take money from ordinary men and women in to be spent by government.
If we take in more to spend, it means they don't have it to spend, so the amount of demand is the same in the economy.
But let's just try to see for a moment where jobs come from: Jobs come from business. Business comes from pleasing the customer. This is why we have put so much emphasis on small business.
In the end, we rely on the wealth-creating sector, the private sector, to create the jobs and create the business from which we pay the tax to keep the public services going.
