Cargo ship sinks off the coast of Romania after drone attack: one sailor killed, three missing. Romanian President blames Russia.

A cargo ship, the Khoryv, flying the flag of the Comoros Islands, sank in the Black Sea off the coast of Romania. One crew member was killed, and three are missing. Nine sailors were rescued, Reuters reports.

A distress signal was received on the morning of October 23, when the ship was approximately 24 km from the port of Constanta, outside Romanian territorial waters. There were 13 people on board – ten Ukrainian citizens and three Azerbaijani citizens.

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis stated that the ship sank after being hit by a drone and accused Russia of escalating the war against Ukraine. The search for the missing sailors is ongoing.

Він приїхав зі Шрі-Ланки, щоб захищати Україну. Його останні слова були: "Джело, мені важко дихати".

Шехан Ранішка народився на Шрі-Ланці, служив у національній армії.

Коли почалося повномасштабне вторгнення Росії в Україну, він почув заклик президента Зеленського до людей з усього світу - і прийняв рішення.

Він сказав матері, що це несправедливо, що Путін не може так чинити, і що він зробить усе можливе для українців.

В Україні Шехан, який узяв собі позивний "Дантист", став тим, кого побратими називали братом.

Він воював на передовій, виходив на позиції, брав участь у штурмах, діставав поранення - і щоразу повертався в бій.

Він мріяв привести в Україну шрі-ланкійський спецназ. І йому це вдалося, хоч і не з усіма.

А потім сталася новина, яку він приніс із гіркою усмішкою: "У мене дві новини. Одна прикольна - ми популярні. А погана - нас розшукують на території Росії і Шрі-Ланки".

Він створив власну команду зі шріланківців - маленьку армію всередині великої армії, зі своєю формою, традиціями, своїми людьми.

В Україні в нього з'явилася друга сім'я. Аліна познайомилася з ним у шпиталі, коли допомагала з перекладом, і та командна робота непомітно переросла в близьку дружбу.

Її батьків він називав тато і мама, а її - принцесою або Венсдей, іноді жартома сестрою.

Він дуже полюбив Харків, особливо Центральний парк, і мріяв побачити місто в мирній красі.

Мріяв отримати українське громадянство, працювати в українських цивільних авіалініях і купити житло в Харкові.

А ще він підготував собі місце на цвинтері - поруч зі своїм загиблим командиром Тарасом Бунтарем.

Він хотів, щоб у разі його смерті гроші виділили на дитячі будинки для дітей Харкова та області, які втратили батьків під час війни.

4 грудня 2023 року поблизу села Андріївка на Куп'янському напрямку, разом із побратимом Лахіру вони вирушили на евакуацію тіла загиблого шріланкійця.

Почався важкий мінометний обстріл. Шехана поранило. Лахіру надав першу допомогу, використавши турнікет.

Останнім, що попросив Шехан, була вода. А потім сказав: "Джело, мені дуже важко дихати, дуже холодно".

Лахіру передавав медикам, що треба прискорюватися з евакуацією, але тоді не знав української, а з українського боку не розуміли англійської. Це стало проблемою.

Шехан помер у нього на руках.

Його поховали на Рівненщині, біля командира, якого він вважав своїм, - так, як він сам того хотів.

Його мама, пані Тамара, дізналася про все це вже після смерті сина.

Вона подякувала Лахіру за те, що він зробив для її сина. Подякувала Ліні, бойовій медикині, яка була йому близькою. І подякувала Аліні та її батькам за те, що стали для нього сім'єю, коли рідні були за кордоном.

А їй самій у відповідь сказали те, що не кожна мати чує: "Ви виховали не тільки воїна, а в першу чергу людину, з якою можна було поділитися всім, яка завжди підтримає і поведе за собою своїм прикладом".

Шехан пішов захищати Україну, хоч це була не його земля. І віддав за неї найдорожче - своє життя.

Його історія, його ім'я, його обличчя залишаться в пам'яті тих, хто його знав. І в пам'яті країни, яку він захищав, як свою.

It would appear that Musk has more influence over Starshield than he claims, according to a WSJ report. Trump reportedly asked him to lift restrictions on Starshield.

The central question is no longer simply whether Musk had the technical ability to impose restrictions. It is whether he had the contractual and legal authority to exercise that power unilaterally over a U.S.-procured military service. French Minister of Defense Catherine Vautrin stated that British Typhoon fighter jets participated alongside French Rafale aircraft in the "Rummy" exercises.

During the maneuvers, French aircraft, taking off from the Saint-Dizier air base, escorted British fighter jets during a simulated nuclear strike. Paris described this as a crucial stage in the defense partnership.

At the same time, British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace emphasized that such cooperation demonstrates the unity of London and Paris in ensuring the security of Europe and maintaining nuclear deterrence.
