On Valentine’s Day 36 years ago, at the request of Carl Sagan, NASA turned Voyager 1's camera back toward home for one last look.
From 3.7 billion miles away, it captured this: a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
Here is how Carl Sagan beautifully described it:
“Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it, everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor, and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every 'superstar,' every 'supreme leader,' every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there — on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand. It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.”
Lived down the street from him when I was a kid. He’s the reason I wore #21 in all my sports. Condolences to the Nielsen family. Thanks for posting Bob.
Saddened to hear of the passing of another Blue Bomber great, receiver Ken Doc Nielsen. Doc played from 1965-1970, 3-time west all star, 2-time all Cdn. and all I’ve heard over the yrs from his former teammates is what a truly great player and quiet man of integrity he was.
@BrianBoddis Cool, I hope many #Bombers fans put the rivalry aside and cheer for the Western team. If it were #Ticats vs #Riders, I would expect max support for the cats. But this is Montreal, and that hits a lot different out West. Will be interesting to see where the support ends up. #CFL
@JohnDHodge I usually agree with you John but “few tweaks” for next year??? This team has been regressing for 2-3 years now through age and losing talent to free agency and as Doug Brown said, somehow decided not to restock the cupboard to make a run at the Cup in their home park
And I would be happy to have him back WITH an upgraded offensive line, improved receiving corps and a legit understudy (Elgersma?) to take over from him in 2027 #bombers
Zach Collaros has one more year with the Bombers and says he wants to continue playing with Winnipeg's core, but if that doesn't happen, he says he also has options, but won't elaborate. Regardless, right now, he says his mind is focusing on playing next season @TSN_Sports
Bombers had a great run, but maybe now they will admit that the team has some real weaknesses that they have been denying for a few years now.

Massive mistake there from Willie Jefferson.
That sack may have taken Montreal out of field position.
Instead, he gets a piece of Davis Alexander's facemask.

Regarding Taylor Elgersma talk in pregame, I have been wondering how he & others in his situation financially support themselves while waiting for that elusive NFL opportunity. He's fresh out of university with no income for many months. Does his agent support him? #CFL#Bombers
Almost prefer a #bombers blowout to a close loss. Might wake up the brass to our many weaknesses. O-line. Receivers. Aging QB. No aggressive D-linemen. Coaching issues. But probably not… Osh is great but he’s loyal to a fault.
Bombers D, the backbone of the team, has given up three passes over 30-yards and a 39-yard pass interference. Looks like Winnipeg is blitzing more than usual. Obviously it’s not working. #Bombers
