Poll for my followers: What would you like the UK's future relationship with the EU to look like post brexit? (See my below tweets before asking where a certain option is)
Had a lot of respect for you @paulmasonnews but calling for the sacking of hard working committed @uklabour staff is a shocking response from a so called JC supporting socialist.
What happened to workers of the world unite ?
@sophianictract Reminds me of discussions I had with my late Grandmother. The only time she voted Conservative in her life was 1983. Those were her words to describe Michael Foot.
Wow, that video clip by @OwenPaterson really does make a convincing and powerful case for an #EEA / #EFTA - based Brexit. Thank you! @SuellaBraverman , please take the time to watch, as I think you’ll find it helpful 👍#CommonMarket2
It is clear that #Labour is on the verge of another Civil War over both Corbynism & Brexit
This cannot end well.
I agree that Milne must go but I think Corbyn would win another leadership election if it went to the members. He would not win by as much as in 16 but he'd win. 1/2
to be clear: i am a lifelong Labour supporter, until recently a Labour member. i want a more socialist UK & EU. i voted for Corbyn as leader.
Corbyn demonstrably cannot deliver for Labour; he is actively harming Labour.
i want @jeremycorbyn to resign. #CorbynOut#SeumasMilneOut
Exactly this.
Unfortunately the obsession from certain Labour MPs & the media over ending Free Movement of Labour (A thing supported by the majority of Labour voters & members btw) at all cost has created this ludicrous Customs Union position.
@PaulKnights@SKinnock It’s the demand to leave the EEA/end FOM that is really stupid. A CU has no benefits- just gives control of trade policy to the EU. A breathtakingly stupid policy that barely anyone supports and those that do are so stupid they ascribe the benefits of staying in the EEA to it!
Only if it means fully embracing @SKinnock 's #Commonmarket2 or an #EEA based compromise
I am afraid the Customs Union only policy is the worst of both Worlds. Too hard for remainers & too soft for leavers
In addition it alienates our natural allies the 'Norway model' advocates
Quite right @SKinnock to say “we should have stuck to our guns” - which accepted the Ref outcome and concentrated on a pragmatic deal. #EUelections2019
Paul. I don't think this is the right strategy. Labour should shift towards an #EEA based option like #Commonmarket2 .
This is a fiasco but it won't be made better by the inevitable 2nd Labour Civil war.
Three point plan for Labour. 1. A members ballot on Remain/Reform as the new line. 2. Sack the officials responsible for this fiasco. 3. Defend Corbyn against the inevitable coup. More from me tomorrow - sign our petition here https://t.co/V5HNZAwz2X
Stephen Kinnock is right - "We should have stuck to our guns as the party of a sensible, pragmatic bridge-building Brexit".
We've looked like a party edging towards supporting a second referendum - and it hasn't done us any favours.
You know it's bad when...
Tory HQ is not bothering with its usual election night rolling brief for MPs. No emails from CCHQ to MPs tonight at all, no info on results, no lines to take
(If they're wondering, they're set to come 5th)
