Is there some nightmare scenario in which Andy Burnham fails to win Gorton, the mayoralty goes to Reform and an otherwise successful political career founders on hubris.
@sarahllester@MENnewsdesk Well said! My thoughts also went back to the MEN's naming of the 1996 bomb suspect. It's worth recalling that the MEN's reporter then was put in the witness box and asked to name his source on pain of imprisonment. Steve Panter, of course, refused.
@diannebourne I once had a lovely cane-handled brolly. Left it in a phone box after filing copy from Pat Phoenix's funeral. Still a bit mad about that.
@JonathSchofield One of my favourite places in the world. I rode my motorbike down the zig-zag road into Lysefjord and then caught the ferry out of the fjord. Still think about that day very often, even 15 years later.
@Olthwaite ..I have recorded onto laptop, but with multi-tracking you may get time lag. It may be easier and simpler to record to a dedicated digital recorder like a Zoom H4...cheap second hand models available on eBay.
@Olthwaite Audacity freeware multi-track recording software, then some kind of interface-there are lots of options - to input guitar/vocals into the laptop.
@StuartMaconie Rolling Stone have shot themselves in the foot with this list. Tommy Emmanuel, Doc Watson, George Benson, Paco de Lucia, Brad Paisley, Jerry Douglas and so many other stellar guitarists are missed, but a whole slew of lightweight talents make the cut. Pointless exercise.
@jmacrodgers@valmcdermid Great read, and it does that very rare thing of faithfully depicting the trade of journalism. Just started 1989 and I'm gripped.
@CHIMPSINSOCKS Absolutely horrible. But you're advocating that the violent man is set upon by other violent men? Isn't this the very definition of a vicious circle?
