A fantastic afternoon at our garden opening party🎉
Thank you to everyone who made this project successful👏🏼
We now have an accessible, inviting, and functional space for patients, visitors, and staff to enjoy for many years to come 🪴
Every day we should:
• Move our bodies
• Engage our minds and connect with others
• Nourish with food and fluids
• Dress to start the day with purpose
These small, consistent habits help prevent deconditioning and support people to stay stronger & more independent.
Deconditioning can happen quickly, leading to loss of strength, mobility and independence.
MEND – Move, Engage, Nourish, Dress focuses on 4 daily actions that help patients stay active, maintain function and support recovery.
Preventing deconditioning is everyone’s business.
Busy behind the scenes getting everything ready for the MEND launch next week💛
Lots of prepping - including these yellow T-shirts that will soon be on every patient wardrobe. A small detail, but an important part of bringing the MEND campaign to life.
We’re all set and ready to welcome you to our dementia event today! Looking forward to an inspiring day of connection, learning, and support. #DementiaAwareness
🌟 New Deconditioning Poster!🌟
Aiming to increase awareness of deconditioning and highlight clear actions that can be taken to prevent hospital acquired deconditioning.

Really enjoyed presenting the Cubii Project tonight at the @CommHospUK best practice discussion. Excellent conversations about deconditioning & the importance of rehabilitation.
It’s incredible how one simple innovative idea can gain momentum & benefit so many patients!🌟
Our very own Christmas Elf demonstrating the new Cubii machines kindly funded by the League of Friends.
These seated resistance machines allow patients to easily complete exercise whilst in hospital. We are using them daily on the ward to prevent deconditioning💪🏼
@ReconGamesUK
Happy International Volunteer Day! We always appreciate all of our volunteers time and the value they add to the patients journey.
We even have 4 generations of volunteers/staff from one family working on the ward!🌟
Our Christmas Advent Calendar is live!
Throughout December we have activities planned to help prevent hospital acquired deconditioning.
By rehabilitating in ways outside the box, we’re able to improve physical, mental & social outcomes.

Our Christmas Tree decorations are now on sale at the main reception🎄
£2 and £1 boxes available.
Many thanks again to GJ Knits and Janice for their kind knitted contributions, with all proceeds going towards patient comfort & amenities.
Get them before they’re gone!
(A very belated) Day 5-
Adaptions.
After completing initial assessments, we aim to make care as client centred as possible. We are able to further support this by making minor adaptions where needed, like the hearing loop seen here in action.

We will remember them.
Patients and staff at Paulton Hospital joined together in silence to remember those who gave their today for our tomorrow.
Many thanks to GJ Knits for her hand made poppies that have been used to decorate the dayroom.

Day 4-
Wash and dress🧼
For many this is the days first ‘occupation’.
Here, patients abilities are assessed & goals are collaboratively set to support regaining independence.
As well as practice, aids can also be used to enhance functional performance.
@theRCOT#OTWeek24
Day 3-
Animal assisted interventions🐶
Meet Sarah & Mable from @TherapyDogsUK who visit us monthly.
AAIs are known to improve self-esteem & confidence, whilst promoting quality of life & independence, which positively impacts occupational performance 😊
@theRCOT#OTWeek24
Day 2-
Breakfast club!
Ran every Tuesday (at least), it gives patients a chance to rehabilitate in a social setting, which benefits physical, mental & social wellbeing.
A great opportunity to assess meal & drink preparations whilst removing 1:1 pressures.
@theRCOT#OTWeek24
Day 1-
Today’s focus is Access Visits.
Widely regarded as an integral role of an Occupational Therapist, we complete these to gather information that allows us to deliver personalised care, rehabilitation and discharge planning (amongst other benefits).
