I tell patients I’m intubating (when possible) that I will sedate them for the procedure and then let them wake up since many don’t mind being intubated and often prefer to be in control. I tell them they can always ask for something to take the edge off. It works!

@JimmyJimrid @dwadepsych I rarely hear ICU nurses saying 'restraint', more often it's 'sleep' for sedation or 'mittens' for the padded gloves we use to reduce device interference. I hope to identify modifiable factors in my PhD that lead to restraint, and work towards something to help minimise them.
