And then, the discharge arrived. 🙌❤️

Those were intense days. Days of fear, anguish, hope, tears, and many prayers.

Before the surgery, we carried so many questions. During those hours of waiting, a single desire occupied our entire hearts: that she would come back to us.

And she did.

She returned with a different body. A paw was missing, her balance was no longer the same, and there was a new reality to discover.

While we were still trying to understand everything that had happened, Donatella simply began.

She tried to stand. She sought her new balance. She took her first steps.

And she taught us, once again, something that perhaps we humans take a lifetime to learn: she didn't dwell on what she had lost. She simply recognized the life that continued there.

And she moved on. ❤️

The news we had been waiting for arrived: Donatella was discharged.

We know there is still a road ahead. There will be adaptation, care, discoveries, and many new steps. We don't want to think about how much is still to come.

We want to look back and realize how much she has already overcome.

Because, despite everything, she continues to be our Donatella. The same sweetness. The same love. The same unique way of hers.

And an immense will to live.

Yesterday was a day to give thanks.

Today is a day to start again. ❤️

Our golden princess is back home.

And we will be by her side, every step of the way. 🐾✨

No retorno pós-alta para a retirada do dreno, assim que desceu do carro, Donatella foi subindo a rampa sozinha — e nem me esperou! 🥹🤭

Depois de tudo o que enfrentou, vê-la caminhando assim, adaptando-se com tanta coragem e seguindo em frente, encheu meu coração de alegria e gratidão.

O dreno foi retirado, o orifício está dentro do esperado e a ferida cirúrgica está cicatrizando bem. 🙌🙏

Ainda temos cuidados e desafios pela frente, mas esse momento precisava ser celebrado: nossa menina está aprendendo uma nova forma de caminhar, sem perder a força e a vontade de seguir.

Vai, Donatella! Estamos com você em cada passo. 💗

💔🐾 **WE TOOK THE SAME PHOTO TWICE… 13 YEARS APART.**

The first photo was taken the day we brought Max home.

I was just a little girl.

He was a tiny Golden Retriever puppy who couldn't even climb the stairs by himself.

From that day on, we grew up together.

He waited for me to come home from school.

Slept beside me when I was sick.

Listened when I cried over things I thought would end my world.

He was there for birthdays, Christmas mornings, first heartbreaks, and all the ordinary days I never realized would become memories.

Then, somehow...

13 years passed.

I got taller.

He got slower.

His golden face turned white.

The puppy who once followed me everywhere eventually needed me to help him up the stairs.

And then came the day I had been pretending would never arrive.

Before saying goodbye, I wanted one last photograph.

Just me and Max.

Like the very beginning.

But this time, I couldn't smile.

I held him as tightly as I could, wishing love alone could make dogs live forever.

The first photo was taken when our story began.

The last was taken when I wasn't ready for it to end.

If I could speak to that little girl in the first picture, I'd tell her:

**“Hug him tighter. Take too many pictures. Let him sleep on the bed. And never complain when he follows you everywhere.”**

Because one day...

you'd give anything to hear those paws following you through the house again. 💔🐾
