We are witnessing, in real time, one of the biggest failures of curiosity in the history of journalism.
Katy Tur, squatting in the same building as trump at the RNC, is practicing her best tone of respectful reverence and fangirling as she looks at the mattress-sized gauze on the side of trump's head, and it doesn't occur to her to inquire what he was treated for.
Did he get stitches? If so, how many? Why is the bandage so insanely huge? The photographs didn't appear to show any discernible wound whatsoever.
No, these jackasses are reserving their most harsh interrogations for President Biden, demanding to know if he watched the entire debate from 14 fucking days ago, and who is he listening to, and for the 100th time, is he sure he doesn't want to drop out.
In fact, President Biden has politely attempted to steer the press' focus back to doing their jobs, asking Lester Holt why nobody's asking trump about the 28 lies he told during that debate.
It's outrageous. If you're going to subject one candidate to a body cavity-exam level of scrutiny, subject BOTH candidates to it.
Come on, you can't adequately or honestly "both sides" anything if you're only scrutinizing one side.
Nobody has even asked trump about the discrepancy of denying his involvement with Project 2025 and the fact that he knows many of its planners, and it mentions his name hundreds of times. FAILURE OF CURIOSITY.
Where are the questions about his weird fixation on Hannibal Lecter, or sharks, or any of the other batshit things he gets away with saying at all times?
How about asking him why he admitted to a discussion with Putin BEFORE the Ukraine invasion, or why he said Putin would release hostages to him, and not President Biden?
What about asking him why he was tooling around with the authoritarian leader of Hungary?
It does seem like, even prior to the shooting this weekend, the press has wrapped trump in a protective gauze as ridiculously oversized as his ear mattress.
He's not even the sitting President, but many members of the press have granted him immunity from asking him any fucking questions.
They're even allowing non-doctors to accuse President Biden of having dementia, while saying that trump DOES NOT -- and not an iota of pushback.
Once again, it's a disgraceful display of burying Biden under an avalanche of insipid inquiries and bullshit while extending utmost deference to a would-be dictator who plans to lock many of them up if he wins.
And they are shamelessly helping him.

Also, I received a question regarding the inflation numbers.
One of the most common right-wing attacks against President Biden is inflation. They tend to solely blame him for its historic rise in the first 18 months of his term. That, of course, is lacking critical context, and bigly quantities of it.
President Biden was NOT the reason for the rise in inflation. The fact of the matter is Donald Trump's epic failure in leadership during our worst pandemic in a century, not only cost us hundreds of thousands of lives, if not over a million, but also tens of millions of jobs. He didn't take the matter seriously until it was too late.
It has been documented that, for 9 full months after the virus's inception in this country, Trump went on the record 38 times, essentially saying, "This virus is just going to go away. It's going to disappear." The guy was so nonsensical and out of his depth that he suggested injecting disinfectant could rid one of the virus. Oh, and let's not forget the doctorly advice of shining lights up our butts. His historically inept leadership ultimately forced 40 states to impose lockdowns. Before Trumpers go all in with the conspiracies and say, "Yeah, Democrat governors!" No. First of all, there were not 40 Democratic governors in office at that time (nor now). Secondly, the spread of lockdowns, based on party affiliation, was roughly even, with 23 Democratic and 17 Republican governors implementing them. This resulted in tens of millions of jobs lost. During this time, of course, inflation decreased, as demand was down and did not match supply. Due to this, inflation decreased to 0.1% in May of 2020. When lockdowns were lifted, as tens of millions of Americans were no longer employed, supply could not match demand, and inflation immediately began increasing. It was up to 1.7% by the time Trump left office, or a 1600% increase since May of that year. The trend continued during Biden's first year and a half in office, peaking at 9.1% in June of 2022. With no help from Republicans, Biden and his fellow Democrats passed and signed the Inflation Reduction Act to place a halt to the financially crippling trend and largely reverse it. That, in conjunction with the Fed raising interest rates, has decreased inflation to 3.0%, or 67% since its peak 2 years ago.
Conclusion: When Donald Trump is faced with problems, the guy just talks, denying the issues even exist to begin with, exacerbating them to crisis levels. When Joe Biden is faced with problems, he confronts them head on and demands more than talk; he gets sh*t done.

When I cast my vote for President Biden, I wasn't expecting much. I just wanted trump out of office.
I knew he was old.
I knew he had a stutter.
I knew he had a rep for "gaffes."
I didn't care. Just wanted trump gone.
Four years later, things are different.
I wasn't expecting that President Biden would be the most legislatively successful President in my lifetime.
I wasn't expecting him to help expand NATO.
I wasn't expecting him to lower insulin & inhalers.
I wasn't expecting him to create & recover 15m jobs.
I wasn't expecting him to bring manufacturing back.
I wasn't expecting him to forgive student debt.
But he did ALL those things, and more.
He surpassed my expectations by a lot.
And he has more planned for 2025-2028.
He's not a master orator,
He doesn't move so smoothly
But neither did FDR from his wheelchair.
Meanwhile, trump is STILL a threat.
He wants to be a dictator.
He wants to stay out of prison.
He wants revenge on his enemies.
He wants to take away from the poor and middle class and give to the ultra wealthy.
His Project 2025 will enable a national abortion ban to criminalize women seeking safe and legal abortions.
His Project 2025 will take away the rights of our LGBTQ family and friends.
His Project 2025 will transform the government into a loyalty pledge, not to America but to him ALONE.
We might never have another free election.
THAT is what is at stake in this election.
We can continue to progress with Biden policies, or we can let trump destroy democracy as we know it.
If you're looking for someone who's young and athletic, go watch a fucking movie.
I'll take the old guy who needs a nap while saving democracy over the old guy trying to overthrow democracy who needs a legal team.

Yesterday while I was talking with @AVindman and @biannagolodryga about Alex’s new book, I was asked about my comment about COVID misinformation that all of you are sharing. Here was my answer:
@CA_EDD 2 days ago, told it's a 31min wait, I waited 4hrs & 20min. And then hung up on when they closed. Told same wait time today. This is absurd!! Right on track to beat my record - still not getting payments! 🤬🤬🤬
@CA_EDD I called just before 4pm, was put on hold and told 31min to speak to someone. 4 hours and 20min later only to get hung up on because you closed?! Are YOU hiring? Apparently you need the help and since you're not giving me my paid outs I'm screwed!! What a f*k☆g joke!!!
