There are 1,001 people telling artists which music distributor is “the best.”
But their best might not be YOUR best.
The Music Distribution Selector compares pricing, fees, revenue shares, features + your actual needs to help you find the distributor that fits YOU.
Every artist has to pay Spotify up to $3 per track for every song that fails to exceed 1000 streams every 12 months. This is due to its monetization threshold. A smaller royalty pool due to fraud, beats ZERO $ due to the threshold. https://t.co/kcI8XDTOrO
@KatoProducer Each artist has to pay roughly $3 per song that generates only 1K streams every 12 months. The money gets upstreamed, mostly to major labels. That’s major labels & Spotify robbing them. I think that hurts more. This, they don’t even feel.
@aseanlovesme Likely humans. It's a sick cycle. Somebody makes a comment; everybody comments on their comment. The more people see engagement, the more people are encouraged to make the same type of comments. We have Podcast episodes about Podcast episodes. It's nuts out here.
@aseanlovesme When commentary became a business. Everyone is one comment away from virality. & Likes have the same effects as drugs on the brain. The term Social Media Users" is very fitting, because a lot of us have an addiction.
@Tr1zz But you don’t have to buy it to own it. I think that’s the problem. There are websites that extract files from Bandcamp. Anything with demand gets pirated. The point of streaming was for artists to monetize music that was illegally downloaded.
Convenience fees should be illegal. You pay in person; they charge you an inconvenience fee. You pay online; they charge you a convenience fee. How's that legal?
@th0mmo_ “You may cancel Your subscription at any time via the ‘Billing’ page of the User Portal, but cancellation will stop only future recurring charges and will not entitle You to a refund or credit for the current billing period, except as required by applicable law.”
@th0mmo_ “Any notice that You or Us need to effectuate in connection with the development and performance of these Terms of Use shall be… by mail, digital notification… or email…”
@th0mmo_ Not sure. Just know that any time you leave a distributor, you have to send them written notice/email, or they still have rights to your music. Canceling just means they stop charging you. You have to cancel their rights.
@BusyWorksBeats That's why they've started selling advertising. I'm about to run a test ad in ChatGPT later today. See what it has to offer. I anticipate it will be effective because of its context capabilities.
@th0mmo_ One release at a time. But Batch importing gives a false sense of security. You look at the Trustpilot reviews of distributors that do it; there are all sorts of problems. It's a gamble.
@th0mmo_ Major things artists treat like minor things: The Terms, Customer support, Direct Deals with DSPs or lack thereof, Scale, & Business model. Failure in any of those areas can lead to disaster
@th0mmo_ I built this Selector that lists everything I think should be considered so artists could find THEIR best distributor & not one anyone else thinks is the best. https://t.co/jHIm8fsqfR
