Victoria is run by incompetent crooks. They'll plonk down one or two chargers and have a big photo op, then act like the job is done forever.
For ~360 days per year it isn't too bad, but those remaining ~5 days (holiday Mondays where everyone who works for a living drives home at the exact same time) will always suck there. On the plus side, Victoria is fairly small, and EV range isn't too shabby now, especially in stop-start traffic (problem, meet solution!). It'd be much worse if the numpties who run Victoria were ever in charge of anywhere more spread out.
Individuals can work around that by taking the following day off too, and extending your holiday. Justify it to yourself as a reward for not burning half a day of leave for scheduled servicing - since your car doesn't have spark plugs & oil filters & whatever. Or just overuse the granny charger while on holidays and see if you can fill it enough that you don't need a public charger. Or find the Victorian equivalent of an RSL club (oh, right) with a few slow chargers out the back where you can buy a sit-down lunch and have added another 100km in range by the time you're done.
But the only fix for Victoria is a clean sweep of government. Then call in Tesla. Tell them it's open season. Tell them you'll personally make life miserable for any officious twat at the power company who stalls their grid connections for any charging sites where they're installing 20+ stalls (provided they also host big batteries there, or throttle charging speeds at high demand times (around sunset on hot summer weekday afternoons) if by some miracle more than a few cars are plugged in on those random afternoons). Make sure the offending grid employee's private car is regularly pulled over for roadworthies, whatever levers the state can pull to nuke the deadwood.
Your numbers might matter if you had to remain with the car, and if you drove the car down to empty. You don't. Plug in, pay (if it's a public charger), and walk away. Your car maintains a firm grip on the cable so that bored teenagers can't unplug it at random (at least in Type 2 countries and in newer NACS cars in other countries). It'll replenish what you used up until your preset charging goal (e.g. 80%).
Most days you get home, plug in, and go do home things for the next 12-14 hours. Even the slowest charger in oz will replenish 250km of driving in 14 hours plugged in every night, and that's about 7-10x what most folks would have driven that day.
@ball1_ball@elonmusk They'll kiss and make up before the election, as soon as Farage comes to his senses and stops with the moderate wishy-washy nonsense.
@TanDhesi@Telegraph They can go and culturally enrich India instead. Same with lots of other people who have no desire to integrate (not just Sikhs). Doesn't matter where they were born, you don't belong where you refuse to belong.
The status quo of hundreds of agencies intruding into everyone's lives needs to be binned. Get government out of our lives.
IMHO an honest person shouldn't need to interact with government more two or three times per year, and a dishonest person should be crucified beside a highway somewhere as a warning to everyone else. Polluters, murderers, rapists, thieves, people who talk in the theatre, people who broadcast religious noise in public places (anything more intrusive than church bells once a week and on special occasions) etc., after at least two juries have heard everything (all state issues, of course). There shouldn't be much in-between.
@PoliPessimist@GriffoBJ Abolishing something doesn't require a costed policy. It's just running a wrecking ball through the establishment. The wrecking ball is the policy, if anything. The point being government is doing things people don't need, want or expect, intruding into our lives. No. No more.
It doesn't have to be that way. Part of them being in government is to make sure the other parties can't enact their policies. If they do little more than moisten the chairs on the treasury benches, basically end immigration, needle those who don't belong here into remigration, and abolish or gut almost every organisation the government funds (e.g. eSafety), great!
Two days after Henry died Hampshire Police secretly recorded Digwa in a police van speaking Punjabi to his brother. Digwa admitted stabbing Henry. Discussed claiming self defence. Made zero mention of racial abuse. Not one word.
Hampshire Police had that tape.
They knew Digwa was lying about the racist attack. They had the evidence. They had his own words and then tried to smear Henry as the aggressor anyway.
Three days after his death their statement read “it was reported two men had been assaulted by an unknown man.” Henry was the unknown man. The boy bleeding out on the street. They flipped it.
Family complained. Statement changed. Then police told the family their NEXT update would again infer Henry was the initial aggressor. His family had to fight them a second time. While grieving their murdered son.
Then during the trial Hampshire tried to issue a statement telling the public to stop talking about it online. Calling it disinformation. The CPS had to step in. Told them they were about to collapse their own murder case.
This is the force that handcuffed a dying boy. Missed the murder weapon twice. Had a secret tape proving the killer lied. And still tried to bury Henry's name.
That's not incompetence. That's a machine protecting itself. At the expense of a dead boy's reputation and three officers are still on active duty. Not suspended. Treated as witnesses. To their own actions.
Hampshire Police didn't just fail Henry on that street. They kept failing him for six months after he died.

@JeevunSandher That statement from his father was written by Keir's nudge unit and read unconvincingly off paper. It clearly wasn't what he thinks or wants. It's a cruel demand government makes of grieving parents every time this happens. Enough. Give up your knives or leave.
Send the video to everyone you know showing how heinously Nowak was treated by the police in his dying moments and how the police cravenly kowtowed to his murderer.
Legacy mainstream media, same ones who wrote about George Floyd millions of times, are dead silent about Nowak.
