⚠️PSA⚠️ there are a number of lawsuits underway regarding OCP2.0, the most important thing is finding plaintiffs with standing. if you are a firm that has suffered due to being unbanked and you suspect it's related, please reach out via DM.
I recently spent some days in Kyrgyzstan and met with insiders in the country's #bitcoin mining industry.
In this thread, I share some of the things I learned 🧵
Legal miners can help finance hydropower development.
Some legal miners operate at and buy electricity directly from hydropower plants. By selling part of the electricity to a miner, hydropower projects increase revenues and reduce risk, making it easier to obtain financing.
Like EVs, Bitcoin is a fully electrified, so they have no direct emissions
Like EVs, Bitcoin has indirect emissions from electricity was generated using fossil fuels
TL; DR: Bitcoin uses significantly more sustainable energy, and significantly less fossil fuel
Surprising fact:
Bitcoin mining the only major global industry who's major energy source is not a fossil fuel
The major power source for the global grid is coal (36.7%) source below
Bitcoin mining has hydro as its major power source (23%) source https://t.co/IqAjwEPEtf
So @BitcoinMagazine asked if I could calculate the Bitcoin network based on source of energy
Just finished
To my surprise: hydro is now the major source at 23.0%
Full report to come
Keeping #Bitcoin mining in the U.S. helps the economy and national security—and even the environment!

@CleanUpBitcoin The solutions are noise abatement or liquid cooling, if the mine is that close to homes.
The solution is not to ban mines. We need to _encourage_ technological innovation, economic freedom, and grid flexibility.
