We're honoring Peace Corps Week and the 65th Anniversary of the agency's founding. We pay tribute to all who are currently serving and those have returned from their service, especially our program fellows who serve high needs NYC schools and their communities 💙

For my students final they submit a playlist with 5 songs that I should listen to while grading their final paper. The playlist sets the vibe for how I engage the work & attempts to capture the nonwordness of thoughts, feelings, & arguments that our thinking often relies on.
Congratulations to David Banks on being selected by NYC mayor-elect @ericadamsfornyc to be the next @NYCSchools chancellor. We look forward to working with you as we build opportunities for the youth in New York City.
You know what I loved deeply about bell hooks’ work? It was readable. You didn’t need a doctorate to have it penetrate the deepest crevices of your heart. That’s the type of work I want to put out in the world.
This sad season of massive deaths is nearly killing me! From my precious Mom to five eulogies in one week, and now my very dear sister bell hooks! She was an intellectual giant, spiritual genius & freest of persons! We shall never forget her!
One of my favorite questions to ask, “What brings you joy?” This school leader shared her joy in the love of reading and learning at her school through a school-wide reading challenge. Another joy is the opportunity to ensure that every child receives a gift. ❤️ #D4Strong
Two boys raised in working-class families in Brooklyn and Queens.
Two boys educated in New York City public schools.
Two boys who made it and are ready to make sure every kid gets the education that will let them succeed too.

I'm deeply humbled to have the opportunity to lead the school system that shaped who I am today. To every parent, student, educator, school administrator, support staff member, educational partner, I see you.
Join @chrisemdin for an #LCActivate conversation with @OmariHardwick and @RuizSealey exploring Dr. Emdin's new book "Ratchedemic: Reimagining Academic Success" and what it illustrates about radical welcoming. Visit https://t.co/egNMXSWHr0
After I reversed my Type 2 diabetes by embracing a whole food plant-based diet, I knew that better health was possible for growing Brooklynites, such as this young man, who warmly welcomed me to his school, Gravesend's PS 216 Arturo Toscanini’s Edible Schoolyard.
