Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.’ When he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit.' (John 20:21-22)

Dear God, with deep gratitude we thank you for those who guard, guide and serve our nation. Thank you for those who gave the last full measure of devotion by sacrificing their lives to secure and safeguard our liberties. Bless their memory, family, friends and community.
Receive my prayer, O Lord; let my cry come to you.
Do not hide your face from me in the day of my distress.
Incline your ear to me; answer me speedily in the day when I call.
(Psalm 102:1-2)
“O God our shepherd, you know your sheep by name and lead us to safety through the valleys of death. Guide us by your voice, that we may walk in certainty and security to the joyous feast prepared in your house, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord."

God of hosts, when we hold tightly in fear of scarcity, you prepare before us tables of abundance. Anoint us with your grace, that we may remain in your presence all the days of our lives.

“When [the risen Jesus] was at the table with [his disciples], he took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized him; and he vanished from their sight” (Luke 24:30-31).
So [the women] left the tomb quickly with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!”... Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”
~Matthew 28:8-10

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for he has been raised... Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples, ‘He has been raised from the dead.'"
~Matthew 28:5-7
He was alive, but they didn't know that.
It was Easter, but it didn't look like it, it didn't smell like it, it didn't feel like it, but it was Easter anyway.

I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.
~John 13:34-35

On #MaundyThursday, as we remember the Last Supper, we acknowledge that we are not physically gathered around the table together. While we look to the day when we can share this meal again, we know that nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.
God our refuge, in times of distress and pain you provide a safe place for your people to dwell. Keep us from all harm and teach us your will, guiding us in paths of righteousness.

O God, from the family of your servant David you raised up Joseph to be the guardian of your incarnate Son and the husband of his blessed mother. Give us grace to imitate his uprightness of life and his obedience to your commands, through Jesus, our Savior and Lord.
