This evening, Constable Sandlin had the privilege of pinning a Precinct 8 badge on our newest Deputy, Homero Tamez, as he graduated from the HCC Law Enforcement Academy. He also earned the class “Top Gun” award as well! Deputy Tamez will begin his career with us on Monday.

On this day in 1836, Texas declared its independence from Mexico. Just 4 days later, the battle of the Alamo was fought and the Texans were defeated. That led to the battle of San Jacinto in the heart of what is today, Precinct 8.

Precinct 8 Deputies are continuing to monitor bridges and roadways this morning. The Fred Hartman Bridge and the Ship Channel Toll Bridge are open. The snow is melting but icy patches remain. Please continue to exercise caution if traveling on roadways.

As temperatures continue to drop, water on the road could turn to ice and conditions could worsen overnight. Please avoid driving if possible.

Precinct 8 Deputies will continue to monitor bridges and roadways, and we will post updates as they become available.

Precinct 8 Deputies are escorting crews on the Ship Channel Toll Bridge as they apply de-icing treatments throughout the day. We encourage you to stay off the roadways if possible.

On Saturday, October 26th from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM, you can drop off medication at our Clear Lake station and we will safely dispose of it.

East Harris County Activity Center at 7340 Spencer Hwy in Pasadena has been set up as a Evacuation Shelter/Cooling Center for those affected by the fire. Please stay safe and follow evacuation orders if you’re in the affected area.

PRECINCT 4 DEPUTY MURDERED ON HIS WAY TO WORK TODAY

We are saddened about the murder of one of our Precinct 4 Deputies on his way to work today.

Our deputy was transported to Ben Taub hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
