Exploring Tokyo in a 1965 Austin Healey 3000 MKIII convertible with the top down at night is genuinely one of the coolest things you can do in VR in 2026.
Game is Forza Horizon 6 using the @nalulululuna VR mod. Thank you Naluluna. Wow. What an experience!
PC specs: MSI RTX 5080 / i7 Ultra 270k Plus 3700 Mhz 24 core(s) / 32GB DDR5 / PRO Z890-S WIFI (MS07E54)

👋 Greetings Explorers!
🔥 Today we are releasing a huge free update featuring a new game mode, first-person avatar arms, Steam Frame and Open XR support, improved visuals and performance, and so much more!
🥽 Steam Frame + OpenXR
Dungeons of Eternity is Steam Frame Verified! This build features finger tracking, rebindable
SteamVR input, and its own graphics settings — plus experimental OpenXR support
for PCVR.
🪦 Tomb Extraction Mode!
Beyond the ominous skull cave lies a gateway to a new realm on Eternity. The Nova Guild has discovered a vast network of dark crypts, lit only by magic. Explorers should explore this new territory for resources.
🔮 Collect Crypt Runes in Dungeon Raid, then dial your destination at the new Crypt Dialing Device in the Outpost — your rune combination shapes the crypt and the loot inside, and combos can be shared with other explorers. Beware - extract and you keep it all, fall and you lose it all!
💀 What awaits in this mode? New loot, weapons, enemies, and over 60+ new chambers. Keep reading for more details!
⚔️ Crypt Weapons
You won't bring your loadout into the tombs — you'll find what you need down there.
The Crypt Keeper's Staff sends a guided orb of light ahead of you. Pull trigger again to detonate the light orb.
The Tomb Breaker Hammer smashes open sealed tombs and works well against armored enemies.
The Gravelight Bow illuminates crystal lights and explodes on impact.
The Necromancer Staff charms an enemy to fight at your side!
Skull Daggers are useful against all enemies and stealth kills, and can be found throughout the crypts.
🛡️ New Enemy: Crypt Guard
The Crypt Guards patrol the crypt halls and can hear your voice and your magic, investigate sounds, and alert each other. Skeletons spawn in new, occasional-jump-scare ways.
💍 New Loot: Rings, Auric and Spectral Weapons
A new equippable Ring slot with over 30 rings to find and collect, each with its own perk. Visible on your avatar, your teammates, and your own hands. Plus, two new legendary weapon classes: Auric weapons shake coins loose from the undead, and Spectral weapons echo your damage through them a moment later.
🤝 Avatar Arms, Damage Points, and more
- First-Person arms and hands now change to match your avatar
- EVERY player can carry a torch in dark rooms, thanks to an all-new lighting system
- Experimental Offline Mode — run dungeons with no connection
- Damage points and multipliers rising off enemies (toggleable)
- Your inventory items now stay with you when you leave the game
- ...and more!
🔧 Looks Better, Runs Better, Everywhere
We overhauled lighting and rendering across the entire game: directional lightmaps (the same tech behind Half-Life: Alyx), volumetrics and many more real-time lights on Quest, optimized shaders, faster dungeon loads, network improvements, and avatar improvements. We have also enabled Graphic Settings for all platforms, letting users tweak for immersion or performance.
🎻 And More...
There's a Lute in the Outpost sitting area — 16 chords, power chords, real strumming, fully networked. Serenade your party. 🎵 And say hello to Nova with our new experimental voice commands (on-device, push-to-talk, opt-in) — she understands sit, stay, follow, shake, and more.
🙌 Cheers!
Thanks to the community's patience with us on this update. We crammed a lot in, improved and optimized, Steam Frame verified - it was a big one! However, the game's 3-year anniversary is approaching and we plan to do a small update for that.
Three-year anniversary is coming up soon! Stay tuned for more dungeons content!
Full release notes will be released soon.
We don't punish boat owners by designing all boats to cater to people who get sea sick. We tell the people who get sea sick to stop going on boats or fix their personal problem.
There is so much more to PCVR than what Meta's Quest 3 offers, and Valve has proven it with the steam frame.
plz, valve, let me order it 😭

Halo was our Fortnite. Me and the boys had so many splitscreen parties when we were kids. 2 TV's + 8 players. 4v4 splitscreen madness was the SHIT back then.
Totally agree. Experiencing Halo in VR was kind of an emotional experience.
@BEYONDTHEB0X@joshuakeith Who said anything about *needing* anything?
Enjoy whatever you want brother. I'll stick to my RTX 5080 for VR today and worry about whatever happens in 5 years... In 5 years.
No plans to support standalone VR mods. I know this might bother 90% of the VR userbase but this is PCVR Gamer, not Mobile VR Gamer.
We're not interested in mass appeal. We are ok with being a small niche segment of the VR space where quality matters - even if it means losing 90% of the VR userbase.
We have nothing against mobile games (standalone). just no Interest in it and since we don't get paid, we don't want to do work on something we have no interest in.
Yeah Steam Frame takes what Quest started and removes the friction. Low friction wireless PCVR with standalone as a limited option of you want.
When i get a Steam Frame ill likely do a lot of things standalone. Like playing a flat game like Slay The Spire 2. Those low cost games will be amazing on the SF.
I'm not anti-standalone, i just dont want to do a shit ton of work for it (make guides, hunt down standalone mods etc)
Oh. If a PCVR game runs on a standalone headset independent of the PC then that's awesome. I just don't want my games designed to run on standalone headsets otherwise why even own a gaming PC?
This is one of the reasons VR modding is so great. The modders arent worrying about maximizing profits, so many many mods cater to high end gaming PC's.
I find the standalone community seems to think PCVR gamers dont deserve to have games that cater to our high end hardware. It's fine if there are some games you NEED a PC for.
PIMAX posted an official article comparing the Dream Air(s) to the Steam Frame and when it came to the weight, they measured the Dream Air VISOR ONLY compared to the FULLY ASSEMBLED Steam Frame.
I can think of no other reason to make this comparison other than to mislead the reader. What are your thoughts?
https://t.co/EsgZam6pjV
@Tieguaili3D I dont think standalone is quality VR the same way i dont think mobile phone gaming is quality gaming.
It's budget VR. Nothing wrong with that, but lets call it what it is.
@BEYONDTHEB0X@joshuakeith As standalone processors get better, so do desktop video cards. We'll be on RTX 8090 at this point and it will absolutely shit on any mobile chips the way a 5090 does today.
I dont evision that gap closing all that much in a few years. Maybe in 20 years?
Every month we are going to have a "featured mod" where we highlight the mod creator and promote his/her support channels. These will be limited to the absolute best mods.
This month the first featured mod is DOOM 2016 by @CactusVRStudios ! A genuine BANGER of a mod!
