@lox Keychron K3 is great for me. Low-profile mechanical is the only type I'd use these days. Keychron feels adequate build quality, solidity etc. Definitely good enough, but a more premium low-profile 75% would be even nicer. Maybe the Air75 @waferbaby mentioned?
(This assumes zero access to those objects during their lifecycle; it doesn't factor the substantially higher cost per-request and per-GB to access the data. That depends on your access patterns.)
Digging into AWS S3's new Glacier Instant Retrieval storage class pricing. Total cost of uploading (many) small objects, transitioning to Standard-IA or Glacier-IR, then expiring/deleting after 6 months. Standard ends up cheaper than either of those for objects under 200 KiB.
For the record:
βI have [deleted] 4.1 petabytes. This much data would need 10,088.7 km (or 6,268.8 miles) of shelving.β
Thanks @alexwlchan ππΌ and @madpilot for the reminder .
Someone made a cool βhow much shelf space does X bytes in 3Β½-inch floppy disks use?β calculator site, but I can't find it now. Anyone remember, or better at searching than me?
We're hiring a VP of Engineering. Come work with us and make tools developers around the world love to use π https://t.co/vhZbSucAUN #devTools#SaaS#Hiring#CICD
@Bensign Probably also piping lots of third-party spend through AWS Marketplace, which counts towards committed spend to reach new discount thresholds.
Chip shortage! I spent many hours designing this hobby 6502 computer, boards are currently being fabricated, but the FPGA is now unobtainable until sometime next year π« I wonder what device I can buy that has an iCE40HX4K-TQ144 in it for salvage π€
ππΌ Has anybody used https://t.co/XJsVghLVFn as their company comms/collaboration tool (i.e. instead of Slack, Basecamp etc)? What did you like about it? What wasn't good? What size was the company? ππΌ
And come work with me at @buildkite too! There's some fascinating Rails/PostgreSQL/AWS Site Reliability Engineering to be done. I'd apply if I wasn't already there π
macOS 11.0.1 Big Sur / Safari 14.0.1 βΒ anybody else having trouble with ctrl+cmd+space emoji input in Safari? It seems to periodically stop working (picker doesn't appear). Continues to work in other apps π€
@jim_healy@chendo Yeah, winner-takes-all per state is a huge difference (but not inherent to electoral college, and not the case in a couple of US states). It seems to bias massively towards rural population preferences; big cities vote progressive but entire state goes the other way.
