Look at the arrogance of the architects of 4 April, 1979. On the same day, 47 years ago, the same arrogance burt Quran, threw it in toilets, burnt hundreds of libraries & houses of people of Kashmir.

And today, on the floor of the house, the same arrogance is tagging an MLA (@parawahid) as Militant. What a dangerous precedent she is setting & what a dreadful lot of people sitting & happily cheering their leader who just wants to convey that more than 2 lakh people in the Parliament elections & 28,000 in assembly elections from Pulwama voted for a Militant.

This is how the NC treats the youth of Kashmir, even if he is an MLA. It is their long-used modus operandi to choke the voice they fear. Now, Imagine what they will be telling Delhi about the youth of Kashmir. NC is literally the biggest threat to the youth of Kashmir. May God save us.

National Conference has always been defined by its inconsistent & duplicitous policies. Despite being familiar with J&Ks acute electricity woes they have wilfully bartered the state’s hydroelectric projects over & over.

Dr Farooq Abdullah as CM in 1996 gifted 8 power projects to NHPC at throwaway prices as if it was the party’s private heirloom instead of public assets. Because of this hare brained decision people of J&K to this day have to purchase electricity their own state generates at exorbitant prices.

Now Omar Sahab in his second innings as CM has once again handed over 2 power projects to NHPC.

During elections NC promised to take back the very power projects it chose to gift NHPC. After being elected & as expected they took a complete U - turn by handing over more projects instead of wresting back previous ones.

NCs duplicity comes at a time when people of J&K are reeling in darkness & struggling to pay astronomical electricity fees. It will haunt J&K for all times to come.

Today, people of Kashmir understand from the statement of Sakina Itoo that the government has no intention of working towards the release of political prisoners. This is the same party that has long faced allegations of being hand in glove with groups like Ikhwan.
Her remarks today reflected not only a lack of sensitivity but also a lack of respect for the House. Instead of addressing people’s concerns, there seems to be a willingness to send more people to jail. This approach reminds many of the era of Sheikh Abdullah, when dissent was often suppressed and questioning voices were not tolerated @parawahid @jkpdp

The remarkable sense of brotherhood that Kashmiris have displayed during the Iran Israel conflict has unsettled many who thrive on division. There are deeply troubling reports that certain elements are attempting to exploit some self styled religious figures and sections of our youth using social media to sow seeds of misunderstanding between Shia and Sunni communities. This appears to be a calculated effort to fracture our bonds especially at a time when a rare and precious unity has emerged.

Together we must stand firm united and vigilant to thwart such attempts and protect the harmony that defines us.

Not an exaggeration to say that any goodwill India still has with Iran even after it’s unnatural pro- Israel stand is owing to the outpouring of solidarity & love the people of Kashmir showed towards Iran because of our cultural commonalities & religious affinity.

Kashmir’s soft power has certainly yet inadvertently helped mitigate the effects of our recent ill thought & detrimental foreign policy.
