Hi, I'm an ebook editor and ghostwriter. I edit fiction and nonfiction, novels, self- help, memoir, and devotionals. This month I'm sharing a real edit every day, before and after. Writing a book? Send me 300 words and I'll edit them free. DM 'EDIT'

Designed this cover for a story that doesn't exist yet 😱😄 What do you think the book is about? Tell me below!

Exactly, the real work happens in the middle. This morning I'm in the "it's good, but let me fix one more sentence" zone. What kind of books does Small Revolution publish?

Writing a book has 2 moods:

"This is the best thing ever written."
"I should delete the whole thing."

Editors live in the space between. 😅
Which mood are you in today?

Free editing tip: read your writing out loud.
If you run out of breath in the middle of a sentence, it's too long. Split it.
Your readers will thank you.

You're right, that counts! 😄 Clear policies are harder to write than people think. Good luck with the OSEP prep! 🙌

Say hi if you're a writer. What are you working on?

Don't write "she was sad."
Write "she stared at her phone and didn't reply."
Readers feel more when you show them than when you tell them.

Stuck on a sentence? Say it out loud like you're telling a friend, then type that.
You can polish it later. Your own voice is the best place to start.

Know where your book ends before you get there.
You can change it later. But when you know where you're going, the middle stops feeling so lost.

You don't need 5,000 words a day to finish a book.
200 words a day is a whole book in a year. Small and steady wins.

Don't write for "everyone." Write to one person you want to help.
Picture them reading it and you'll know what to say.

Me: "I'll sleep early tonight."
Also me at 1am: "Let me just check one thing."
Who else is in this club? 😭😹

[Peace tweet @Peacetweet2308]

You don't need a fancier word. You need a clearer one.
If a reader has to stop and think about your sentence, you've lost them.
Simple is not weak. Simple is kind. 🤍

Be honest: when did someone other than you last read your draft?
Fresh eyes catch what you can't. That's what I do as a book editor.
Send me one page and I'll edit it free.

Every writer has one word they overuse without knowing it. 😭
"Really." "Just." "Suddenly." "That."
What's yours? Be honest 👇

Your first sentence has one job: make someone read the second one.

That's it. It doesn't need to be clever. It needs to be curious.

What's the opening line of your book? 👇

Long paragraphs scare readers away.

Keep one idea per paragraph. If it covers two things, split it.

Your readers will stay longer.

Can't spot your own mistakes?
Change the font, make the text bigger, or print it out. Your brain reads it like new.

After you finish a draft, leave it alone for 3 days.
You'll come back with fresh eyes and spot mistakes you couldn't see before. 👀

Writers, please stop editing while you write. 😅
Draft first, fix later. If you keep stopping to polish one sentence, you'll never reach chapter two.
