🥔☕🍩 Peak at Potato Days | Brandon
After an insightful presentation by Tracy Shinners-Carnelley, we were proud to treat conference attendees to complimentary potato doughnuts during the morning coffee break!
Tracy shared perspective on the challenges growers face with diseases like early blight and black dot, along with ongoing research focused on sustainable management solutions.
Huge thanks to Tracy Shinners Carnelley for her leadership, and to the amazing Chez Angela Bakery for creating these delicious (yes, potato!) doughnuts.

Progress over perfection 🌱
Healthy eating isn’t about getting it right every time — it’s about making small, consistent choices. Adding more fibre-rich vegetables is a great place to start. Every step counts.

Veganuary (No Pressure) 🌿
Veganuary doesn’t have to be all-or-nothing. Adding more vegetables, even to just one meal, can help increase fibre, support digestion, and bring balance to your plate 🥕🥦🥔 Every choice counts.
Looking for an easy way to start? Try this simple roasted harvest veggie sheet pan 🍽️ — find the recipe link in our bio 🔗

Potato Myth Busting 🥔
Myth: Potatoes don’t belong in a healthy diet ❌
Truth: A medium potato with the skin on provides about 4 g of fibre, making it a nutritious part of balanced meals. Pair with beans or vegetables for an easy fibre boost.
Daily fibre goals (adults):
• Women: 21–25 g/day
• Men: 30–38 g/day
These targets are based on Health Canada and related nutrition guidance.
What is fiber and why does your body love it? 🌱
Fiber supports digestion, gut health, and helps keep you feeling satisfied. The good news?
Every day vegetables like potatoes (skin on!), onions, carrots, and cabbage all count. Healthy eating doesn’t have to be complicated.

Peak of the Market is proud to continue our support of Ag in the Classroom – Manitoba, helping students learn where their food comes from and why agriculture matters. 🌾🥔
In partnership with Agriculture in the Classroom – Manitoba, an organization dedicated to building agricultural literacy and connecting classrooms with real farming experiences, we’re helping to inspire the next generation of growers, thinkers, and food leaders.
In this short clip, Wayne Derksen from Hespler Farms shares what it’s like to grow potatoes and operate a farm here in Manitoba, bringing the story of agriculture to life for students across the province. The full video is available through our Linktree.
Thank you to AITC-M for all you do to educate, engage, and grow connections between young Manitobans and our food system. 💚✨
