Yeah this totally sucks. They will eventually try to blame this decision on the handheld, but the reality is, they want you spending more money on games, with less consumer choice.
Don't take my word for it! Look at the prices of physical vs digital on PSN for older titles.
@kasey__moore BluRay and 4K disks have already become a collectors market. Limited edition prints of older movies keep coming so financially it must make sense. There is and will continue to be a market for physical media - this move from PlayStation feels more related to the 2nd hand market.
You'll pay the same price as before except now you won't own shit! No discs, just empty boxes with codes. When playstation removes your games from the catalog like they are in the process of doing with 500 paid movies you'll get nothing. You'll own nothing.
A disaster of a decision for any collectors, myself included. I have never and will never purchase digitally unless heavily discounted because that game could disappear at any time. I hope the market speaks volumes.

@kasey__moore It could be that Sky have the rights locked in for some time. It’s an okay launch, but I’m with you, I don’t feel a need to leave Sky/Now for the time being.
@kasey__moore I’ve noticed Deadwood, Rome, Westworld and Oz missing from my quick browse. Also surprised not to see Last Week Tonight With John Oliver on there.

As an ex cinema employee, I can promise you that nothing about this is joyous for the people turning screenings around before the next showtime 20 minutes later. No way to properly clean those screens in time, creating bad experiences for others. It’s hurting cinemas, not helping
#AMinecraftMovie director Jared Hess says "it's weird" that police are being called over rowdy screenings.
“It’s weird when you’re having too much fun and the cops get called. It’s funny because I think it’s just literally cheering and throwing popcorn, which is so funny to me that cops are getting called for popcorn. Yeah, it’s hilarious. I’ve seen so many funny videos," Hess told Entertainment Weekly. "It’s great, especially when people are climbing on their friends’ shoulders and standing up and cheering for those moments. It’s like this crazy anticipation. But, man, I’m just glad people are making memories with their friends and families."
“I’m just so happy that people are finding joy in going back to cinemas and seeing things as a community, as a group of people. It’s like we’ve become so isolated on our devices, and it’s just fun to experience things as a group of human beings. I think people are starved for that experience. So it’s fun that they’ve found it in this goofy movie that we’ve made.”
