Lucy, look, I know we don't get along, but...I don't mind your dishonesty half as much as I mind your opinion of me! (#Kaufmo Meme via #TADC)

✨ Spotted on Apple TV 4K (#tvOS 18.2+): #Snoopy, Charlie Brown & the whole #Peanuts gang enjoying a rare full moon night together. 🌕🐾
(Not sure yet how this screensaver gets triggered—it might appear around the full moon, or maybe it’s a Mid-Autumn Festival surprise!)
New look at the new ‘PEANUTS’ movie.
The film follows the Peanuts gang as they go on an emotional journey to New York after Snoopy runs away from home.
@chri_ru_sn0719 This afternoon, I came across the Chinese version of this report on Weibo and found the original English version on its official website. It seems that Sony will ultimately have the final approval authority over the content of the "PEANUTS" series.
"WildBrain will continue to produce content inspired by the Peanuts brand for the AppleTV streaming service “for years to come” by an agreement with Sony...But WildBrain will lose the final sign off on content, which will reside with Sony." https://t.co/lEQhJlmXLT
@chri_ru_sn0719 My pleasure! 😊 By the way, back in 2023, CBS Sunday Morning actually did a special segment called “The ‘Peanuts’ Gallery”—you might enjoy that one too: https://t.co/6f2AW3cOcX
Also wanted to share this—NBC’s Sunday TODAY did a Peanuts 75th anniversary segment. That’s where I saw Melissa Menta again (she was mentioned in the NPR piece too). Nice to watch this alongside the LA Times article 😊 https://t.co/8X5Dl4yVxU
@chri_ru_sn0719 Happy New Year (a bit late!) 🎉 I noticed this article late last month, and it really explains Peanuts’s current strategy—and how younger generations keep connecting with Snoopy in their own way. As it says: "It makes me feel like there’s hope in the world."
@chri_ru_sn0719 Sony & Apple are different: they're already rich, and they value long-term cultural capital. Which honestly suits Peanuts perfectly.
@chri_ru_sn0719 That's actually something I've thought about too - Peanuts is a legendary IP, so why did its ownership keep changing hands? Turns out it's a "low-growth, high-stability, strong cultural constraint" asset - not a great fit for companies chasing fast profits.
@chri_ru_sn0719 By the Pareto principle, maybe only 20 out of 100 Snoopy fans actually read Peanuts comics—but that’s just how most fandoms work. Business logic isn’t the same as creator logic. So as fans, we just keep doing what we love. Let the pros handle the business side.🙂
@chri_ru_sn0719 As for Peanuts' Western strategy, I'm not sure either - but NPR had a good piece (Dec 18, 2023) that hinted at targeting Gen Z through social media. Might offer a small glimpse into what they’re trying: https://t.co/ZGPPeLXSUH
@chri_ru_sn0719 In mainland China, after Global Brands Group took over Peanuts marketing, we've seen tons of creative collabs—just like in Japan! I’m optimistic about the IP’s future here too 🌏🎉
@chri_ru_sn0719 Sony's been Peanuts' licensee in Japan since 2010, and they've done a great job with marketing. As the focus shifts from North America to Asia-Pacific, Sony's experience is invaluable. Schulz's family clearly sees the power of merch and partnerships in today's market.
@chri_ru_sn0719 According to reports, Peanuts Worldwide LLC will be a consolidated subsidiary under Sony, meaning it's fully controlled & their financials are merged.
It's a business/accounting term - but in short, Sony basically owns it, even if the Schulz family still holds a share.
@chri_ru_sn0719 Yeah, looks like Sony now owns 80% of the Peanuts IP. As per tradition, the Schulz family always retains 20% through Peanuts Worldwide LLC. That’s been the case for years.
Previously, Iconix and DHX Media (now WildBrain) held that 80%—and both sold it off due to debt problems.
