Two member of the research team (Emma @EmmaTush1 and Karen) recorded a podcast with @BowelResearch over the summer. This has now been published! They talk about the study and some of the preliminary findings. Here is the link to listen π§ https://t.co/vHpa9xcnFh
We find that people with SMI struggle to go to cancer screening due to poor communication from healthcare staff, stigmatising attitudes, and accessibility problems.
Social support from friends, family, and healthcare providers can help.

Here is a thread of our systematic review preliminary findings that we presented at the @HSRN_UK#HSRUK π§΅
1) Our review is a mixed method systematic review of barriers and facilitators exploring access to cancer screening by people with #SMI
6) Our review has highlighted a range of factors that impact upon deciding to attend and then accessing cancer screening. It shows an inequality may exist and reasonable adjustments may not be implemented to support access
Emma the PECCS research associate (@EmmaTush1) presented this morning the preliminary findings of our systematic review. Well done Emma! Keep an eye out on our next tweet summarising the results #HSRUK23
We can't wait to welcome the UK's brilliant community of health and care services researchers to #HSRUK23 tomorrowβ°

Thank you to everyone who has helped us so far, and continue to do so.
Do you want to help us improve cancer screening services? If you have bipolar, we want to speak to you. We are looking for people to have a one-hour chat about their opinions and/or experiences. https://t.co/HqTg9lUftV #cancerresearch
