Germany is furious that Russians keep building BMWs.

They call them “pirate BMWs.” 😂

In 2022, BMW dramatically sails out of Kaliningrad, virtue-signaling with the rest of the West.

They leave behind assembly lines, skilled workers, mountains of kits, and a perfectly good factory in Russia’s western exclave.

In 2025–2026 those same Russians resourceful as ever dust everything off and start rolling out X5s, X6s, and X7s again.

Same badge. Same silhouette. Lower price.

Built by the same hands that always built them.

Berlin calls it piracy.

I call it the most honest metaphor for the entire sanctions era.

The Pirate Economy is born. While Europe lectures the world about “rules-based order,” Russia just demonstrated the ultimate rule of empires in decline...

never abandon your own tools.

Every sanction, every corporate exit, every frozen asset is quietly teaching the Global Majority a revolutionary lesson..

Worth mentioning that Reuters is one of the few major Western outlets still reporting extensively from inside Russia and which still has access. It's also the chosen foreign outlet for leaks from Moscow's top officials.

That doesn't mean every Reuters anonymous-source claim should be swallowed whole. But when Reuters claims it has “sources close to the Kremlin” saying something, it's usually not random gossip, but a controlled leak to the one Western wire service Moscow still uses when it wants its message carried globally.

This messaging today is obviously aimed at Trump's team in Washington.
