Many of us grew up or witnessed the 90s when clubs like Betis were breaking the transfer record and Depor were signing World Cup winners.
Now we live in an era when many clubs can't spend big and the default for all of us is to blame Tebas.
Check any big account on Spanish football on here, they'll discuss a transfer and the comments will be full of Tebas has ruined the league.
The reality is the financial controls have held up a mirror to the reality of the finances in Spanish football.
The spend in the 90s saw many clubs saddled with huge debts and clubs fall into liquidation, even today clubs are paying the price for the recklessness of the 90s and 00s.
My latest newsletter looks at this reality and explores the myth of Laliga's decline, check it out in the link below

Seen lots asking how a newly promoted team like Depor can afford Auba, Traore, Casado and Gimenez plus the young players they paid a fee for.
Some are even asking is Abanca the bank who owns the club bending the rules and are Depor going to overspend like they did in the 90s.
The reason they've been able to do such business is quite simple, last season Depor had a salary control of €11.5 million.
Financial experts have all said they expect Depor, Málaga and Racing to have a salary control budget of around €60 million this season due to the large increase in TV revenue compared not only to Segunda but previously promoted clubs which means they come into the division in a really strong place.
That's because how the TV revenue is split sees 25% of it based on factors such as TV broadcast contributions such as viewership and ticket sales which puts all three in a good place.
With Depor having cleared the decks over the last few years they had a lot of head room with 80% of their salary control open for new signings which has allowed them to sign established first division players.
Grandioso. Fantástico Satriano también. Y muy enchufado Andrés García.
