@EJagiellonians And before that those lands were not Slavic either. They were Germanic and before that something else entirely. The Slavs came in, sparsely populated the land and acculturated Germanic remnants and became German later on via the same principal. 10-35% of DNA there is thus Slavic.

The only group that even spoke a dialect part of the same branch were the Pomeranians and they were never counted as Poles until Polish ethnonationalists claimed them. The others formed seperate groups. Also, they never left and became German anyways.

Since they dealt with them on a regular basis it would not make any sense for them to not have strong contacts to the biggest power around. Franks also took part in the invasions anyways.

@SecularFascist6 @Tom_Rowsell This has mostly to do with genetic fading. Also it is a very small percentage that actually looks phenotypically "nordic" (or what one might believe to be that). Those individuals will reflect such influences when tested.
