Pride month is over. The flags are coming down off the corporate logos. Right on schedule.
Here's my quiet worry every July. That for a lot of organizations, belonging was a 30-day campaign, and August is when everyone quietly goes back to normal.
The people you celebrated in June don't get to switch it off. Your queer employees, your trans colleagues, your team members who spent the month feeling briefly, genuinely seen — they're still here. Still watching whether the support was real or seasonal.
Belonging isn't a month. It's a Tuesday in October when nobody's watching and you do the right thing anyway.
I've said it before and I'll keep saying it: inclusion that only shows up when it's celebrated was never inclusion. It was just marketing with convenient timing.
So to the leaders reading this — the work continues. The banner was the easy part. What you fund, who you promote, and how you show up the other eleven months is the actual statement.
What's one thing your organization is doing for belonging in August that has nothing to do with a hashtag?

Turns out the Turnaround Queen has an off-switch after all — first stop - Napa. My summer of fun officially kicks off in wine country this week, and I will bring the camera along.
Come see what "logging off" looks like! 🍷

Tomorrow is the 4th of July. I'll be celebrating it as a proud Canadian who's called the US home, on and off, for 20 years — and yes, I'm aware of the irony.
But here's what makes this particular 4th of July nearly perfect: Canada plays in the World Cup that very day. 🇨🇦⚽
So let me be clear about my allegiances. I'll be raising a glass to my American friends and neighbours in the afternoon, and losing my voice cheering for Canada whenever we take the pitch. No conflict. No contradiction. Just a woman who has never believed belonging is a zero-sum game.
That's not a personal quirk. It's the whole thesis I've spent 25+ years arguing in boardrooms. You don't have less room for one team, one country, one group of people because you've made room for another. Inclusion was never a fixed pie. The leaders who understand that build something stronger. The ones who don't spend their careers making people choose sides that never needed choosing.
And this summer, that argument is playing out on a global stage in front of billions. The World Cup has the entire planet showing up on North American soil — every flag, every language, every background — celebrating together over a ball. Canada co-hosting. The US co-hosting. Mexico co-hosting. The world arriving as our guest.
For a few weeks, the point lands better than any keynote I could give: bring people together, and remarkable things happen.
So tomorrow I'll wave two flags without a shred of guilt. 🇨🇦🇺🇸 Happy 4th to my American friends. And let's go Canada!!
What's something you hold that people wrongly assume you have to choose between?

Took me 20 years to figure out that "serious" never had to mean head-to-toe black. Nobody doubted my competence over a colour — only when I played small. Wear the pink. Take up the room. 💗

Happy Canada Day. 🇨🇦
And I'll be honest about how much that still means to me, watching from Miami this morning.
I've moved back and forth across that border for 20 years, chasing bigger business opportunities, with my last move in 2019. I don't regret a single one. But two decades of leaving and returning is what finally taught me how much of Canada I carry with me no matter where I land.
I am who I am as a human, and as a leader, in large part because of where I come from.
Canada gave me a few things I didn't fully appreciate until I lived without them as the default. A genuine social safety net. Healthcare treated as a right, not a perk. And underneath all of it, a quiet, stubborn belief that we take care of each other — that belonging isn't earned by the strongest, it's extended to everyone.
That's not just national pride. That's the foundation of how I lead.
Everything I believe about whole human leadership traces back to it. The conviction that you build the strongest organizations by including people, not sorting them. That diversity isn't a program you launch, it's a truth you organize around. That looking after your people isn't soft — it's the entire point.
I've spent my career arguing for that in boardrooms. I didn't invent it. I inherited it.
So today I'll be a proud Canadian in Miami, grateful for the country that shaped the leader and the human I became.
To my fellow Canadians — happy Canada Day.
And to everyone else: what's one value from where you come from that you carry into how you lead?

More video, more often — on leadership, AI, and the turnaround playbook. Sometimes it’s me, sometimes it’s my digital twin. The opinions are always mine. #Unstoppable#NoExcuses
The strange thing about AI and work is that the technology isn’t actually the messy part. The mess shows up when organizations try to bolt AI onto job structures that were never designed for it in the first place. That’s how we end up with what I called Franken-jobs, in my recent article.
After that piece, and in the many boardrooms I consult in, the most common response is: “Okay, we see the problem. Now what do we actually do about it?”
This article attempts to answer that question. A practical playbook for redesigning work in the AI era—four steps, real examples, and a few uncomfortable truths about who actually needs to be in the room when job architecture gets rebuilt.

They cut through my abdomen to reach my spine. And the next day, I was leading meetings. But here’s the twist: resilience isn’t the hustle. It’s the healing. I share some thoughts in my latest article.https://t.co/Sibg9uGQZ5 via @LinkedIn
