@mcvalada The “then EIC” has long had his name on the credits for Wolverine. He wasn’t just sitting around waiting for Wein to die like some vulture. Herb Trimpe also gets credit despite the fact that his first drawing of the character was a literal copy of Romita’s design drawing.

@CTropes I’d disagree to a certain extent. The code certainly ensured the aiming of comics at children. It would also stunt horror, violent, or more sexy genres. The code had little to do with the death of Westerns, Romance, or other adventure titles, though.

@BackintheBronze Gerber is a favorite here. This is yet another before-its-time series. Put this out today at Image and I’m sure it woulda gone all the way. Not so much Marvel in the late 70s. Still an interesting book.

@BackintheBronze Fantastic Four never got the killer logo redesigns that X-Men, Avengers, or (later) Thor got. I feel like the original logo has just been defaulted to over and over again cuz nothing else better came along.

@BackintheBronze Spidey’s the obvious choice. Superman’s been in the JLA longer than he hasn’t, Batman has been a part of Batman & Robin since his second year of existence, and Wolverine is only popular BECAUSE he was part of a super team.

@CTropes Chris was one of the nicest guys I’ve met at a con. He just loves to talk. I brought him a Cockrum book to sign and he spent 5 mins telling me stories about his former partner. Hopefully someday I get to talk to him again.
