Wow - something to wait for even after the best meeting of the summer https://t.co/wNZgPO2x5l issue in FEMS Microbiology Ecology - what a chance for your data. Submissions “Ecology of Soil Microorganisms” issue associated with the conference June 15 -19 https://t.co/gywfBdxomH
Wood fibers feeding soil fungi? 🌳🍄
Interesting insights from Prof. Taina Pennanen, as she explains how wood fibres can feed soil fungi in agricultural fields with innovative approaches to soil health and sustainability!

@MarkusMelin1 @satuhassi kyllä. minulla oli pitkään tässä Twitter-Xän kuvauksessani ihana juuri tänne sopiva viisaus by Theodore Isaac Rubin: Kindness is more important than wisdom, and the recognition f this is the beginning of wisdom.
@agronomistag More explanations; I am worried about the removal of the organic layer of forest samples (organic below the the litter, as I have understood the sampling 2018 was done?) as organic layer is the hot spot of biodiversity in at least in Northern forest soils
@agronomistag Yes, and similarly forest litter layer has been taken away, I guess. But the organic below the the litter, knowledge on separating the layers, and keeping the organic layer would have been critical for the biodiversity result
Happy in FAO hq 🏢 and able to talk about SOIL and particularly about the forthcoming Status of the World Soil Resources 2025 report with the great #ITPS fellows
@LukeFinland provides quite a platform to study interactions between soil and long-lived plants! we got cones from 40yr old spruce clones growing in agricultural and forest soils --> see"Soil factors and genetic variation regulate intraspecific growth..." https://t.co/iueAknTZmc
@LukeFinland is an unique workplace to study soil! We picked up cones from the same spruce families growing in agricultural and forest soil. Compared the obtained progeny to history of their clonal parents"Soil factors and genetic variation regulate..." https://t.co/iueAknTZmc
We continued studying the potential of wood-derived biocompounds in agricultural production systems. A brand new Adamczyk et al 😀in Biotechnology Letters: Several pathogenic fungal taxa were inhibited in vitro, some even better than with fungicides

#SOILGUARD draught experiments in the middle of Vessari continuous cover forestry experiments demand lots of persistence and skills of our @LukeFinland field staff, THANKS 🙏 The surprise of the day was to meet there the establisher of these 40 yrs-old-sites !
