You can invoke Friedan, but it doesn't change the validity of, or rebuke, Beauvoir's statement, as there are no normative stances. It may look better, but it doesn't do anything meaning-wise.

Humanism caused the Renaissance (term itself coined by a Christian painter), and atheistic rationalism by means of Cartesian doubt caused the other. My first post didn't include it, but noted the need for unbroken succession, a passing down of tradition, a living connection to initiate you in the mysteries. Modern pagans and protestants are the same; outside it all.
