HO-LY POOP
If you're following the Bricks and Minifigs drama, here's one for you. Turns out Joshua Johnson (owner of the corporation) and Ammon McNeff (bald guy who's taken over the store... and the local police force) WERE MISSIONARIES TOGETHER!!

ICE FROM HEAT!
Imagine a refrigerator that needs no electricity, no compressor, no moving parts just a couple of hefty metal spheres, a bit of fire, and some clever chemistry. In an era when rural America was still lit by kerosene lamps and powered by muscle and wood stoves, the Crosley IcyBall arrived like a gadget from a sci-fi pulp magazine. It was “Ice from Heat,” and it worked so elegantly that it feels almost impossible to believe even today.
The device looked like something a mad inventor would weld together in a garage: two large metal spheres (a “hot ball” and a “cold ball”) connected by a sturdy pipe, often with a handle for lugging it around. Inside: a sealed mixture of ammonia and water. No motors. No fans. Just pure thermodynamics in action.

I’m watching the new documentary on Lincoln. Something continues to hit me about early American leaders specifically:
They were all colossal fuck ups early in their lives.
Lincoln, Washington, Grant. The list goes on.
I mean really really massive mistakes.
Yet our youthful nation was set up in such a way that a comeback story was far more permissive than it is today.
That’s why I take such issue with the credentialism class. If they were around back then as they are now, we would never know the names of the greatest leaders in our history.
>Washington starting the French and Indian war.
>Lincoln’s disastrous Congress speech.
>Grant’s drinking.
They would’ve withered away into obscurity. Gate kept from greatness, and the comeback.
It’s time to overthrow the acolytes of credentialism, and the media that supports them.
This is our 250th year, and we need to get some of that defiant and youthful American spirit back.
Otherwise we won’t see 250 more.
The normal gays understand this. I existed as a normal person and never experienced homophobia until around 2022. I didn't even believe in homophobia because no one truly feared gay people. Now they do. They fear we'll sue them if they misgender us. They fear we'll get their children taken away if they aren't willing to cut off their body parts. They fear they'll lose jobs if they don't conform to delusion. They fear we're perverted and will over insert our sexual desires in public spaces, making them uncomfortable. And straight people, I don't blame you. Those of us who want to exist quietly and peacefully are now attacked for not being bold and loud and standing with a community that feels entitled to live out their sexual fantasies 24/7 in full view of people who didn't consent.
Oh please. GenX is still sniveling over Blockbuster and vinyl. The Zoomers are upset that there are no jobs. Everyone is terrified for truckers at the moment.
The answer is: WE DO CRY FOR THEM. GenX knows better than most what it's like to have the rug ripped out from under you. Our nation still hasn't recovered from the hit after hit after HIT that we've all absorbed over the last 40 years of progress.
And I think that last point is the one that's getting to all of us the most. Progress used to take time. A culture can absorb a blow, then adjust and move forward. The printing press didn't take over for more than a century, for God's sake. But we haven't had a chance.
Now this HUGE blow is hitting and we don't know how we're going to survive it. We're not out of the last 300 blows we've endured. It's been coming too fast and we're already drowning.
And, as we're desperately dogpaddling for shore, now we see a tsunami rising up behind us.
I'm finally reading Dune. This quote, which is in the first few pages, hits hard:
"Once men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them."
I think this Arab says it best @elonmusk.
This Arab commentator just delivered a brutal wake-up call:
“After 1,400 years of cursing the Jews & Christians in our prayers… we have no unity, no countries.
They reached space, slept on the Moon, split the atom, and invented the digital revolution, while we obsess over entering the bathroom and what ruins our ablution besides women and black dogs.”
“Must our minds remain captive after 1,400 years?”
The self-own is devastating. Time to face reality.
🧵 China’s population collapse is now mathematically irreversible.
There simply aren’t enough women left of childbearing age.
Even if the fertility rate magically returned to replacement level (2.1 children per woman) tomorrow, the country would still lose more than 40% of its population by 2100.
It won't. The real number is 75%. There's nothing like it in history. 🧵
@RodDMartin@Insolent_Villag Or shoes, televisions, mattresses, or coffee.
The market itself must shrink. That means many established businesses just won't have enough customers to support all of them.
I honestly don't know what to do.
Hollywood has abused their privileged seat for decades. They've abused their creators and twisted art in an attempt to manipulate their audience. They must be stripped of their power and NEVER again allowed the opportunity they've squandered.
But these AI movies have been made by companies that scraped the collective creativity of our entire species. They stole it. And now they tell us that anyone can access it... for a small fee, of course.
They took our paintings, photographs, likenesses, poetry, knowledge, costume design, music... ALL OF IT, they STOLE IT. And they're devaluing it.
Never again will a poet make a check from having their book published. "AI could knock that out in a few seconds." Directors with vision, photographers with a keen eye and insane technical ability, and our greatest actors have had their abilities devalued in the worst way.
A great evil has been swallowed by a greater evil.
So I don't know what to do.
This is the trailer for Higgsfield’s Hell Grind: the first AI-made feature film to hit the big screen.
Made by 15 people in 14 days for ~$500K
The "you need a studio's permission to make a movie" era may be ending faster than most people think.
I honestly don't know what to do.

😂 Achmed the Dead Terrorist in Abu Dhabi hits different.
“Silence! I kill you!”
Crowd cheers and claps.
Then he sees the front row living in mansions with hot wives and starts rethinking the whole “blow myself up for 72 virgins” business plan.
“I had no idea these options were available!”
Jeff Dunham cooking the audience in their own backyard.
Absolute legend. 🤣
