We have picked up on a disturbing trend among many foreign-owned spaza shops: selling products from brands not officially distributed in South Africa. We found mealie meal from unknown brands, as well as uncertified diapers.
Tragically, due to the high cost of living many residents are forced to buy these unvetted goods. During our search, we confiscated beauty products hidden in the ceiling, unregistered medicines, and brake fluid stored directly next to food sold for human consumption.
This is inhumane. We arrested the employees found on-site at the various spaza shops and shut them down.

The father of six-year-old Monica Sathege, who died after allegedly consuming snacks bought from a local spaza shop in Naledi, Soweto, in October 2024, says he is relying on the South African Police Service to bring closure to the family.
Joseph Sathege was reacting to a damning report by the Public Protector, which found that Gauteng municipalities had failed to implement adequate control measures to enforce food safety and hygiene regulations at spaza shops.

"Where Is the Youth?" Lasizwe Challenges all CEO’s at the FNB Private (Wealth) Event
At FNB’s Private Wealth Series, entrepreneur and media personality Lasizwe Dambuza challenged a room of CEOs, executives and private sector leaders with one question: “Where are the youth in this room?”
During a discussion on South Africa’s economic future, Lasizwe questioned what the private sector is doing to intentionally empower the next generation not only through employment, but by investing in the media space, where culture is shaped, ideas are shared and millions of young South Africans are influenced every day.
“If we’re serious about building South Africa’s future, why aren’t young people in these rooms? And what is the private sector doing to strengthen the media ecosystem that educates, inspires and creates opportunities for the youth?”
His remarks sparked a broader conversation about representation, access and whether South Africa is truly preparing young people to lead or simply expecting them to inherit systems they were never invited to help build.

These are some reasons why she has been arrested:
*Has two undeclared mansions worth R60million she bought cash. Its not known how she could afford these mansions as she earned R250k per month.
*Ze Nxumalo a businessman with tenders in the municipality hired a Private Jet so she could go shopping for hair, clothes and jewelry in London (the trip was worth R3.5million)

Families lost their loved ones because a heartless illegal Zimbabwean foreigner, Martin Mungayi already wanted for multiple robberies chose to come to South Africa and commit murder. When South African citizens rightly point out that many illegal foreigners are here to commit crime and nothing else, they are immediately labelled xenophobic or Afrophobic. Cry my beloved country, for better days are coming.

South Africa must be one of the few countries in the world where a multibillionaire President is found with hundreds of thousands of dollars hidden inside his furniture; where a Deputy President owns mansions worth tens of millions of rand; where a police officer can afford a R39 million house; and where a municipal manager spends millions on a London shopping trip using a chartered flight costing R3 million.
Then we are lectured about “fiscal discipline”, “tightening our belts” and “living within our means.” A country where obscene wealth coexists with mass unemployment, hunger and collapsing public services is not suffering from a shortage of resources—it is suffering from a crisis of priorities, accountability and inequality.
