Here in Brazil, that little mark on the arm comes from the BCG vaccine, which protects against severe forms of tuberculosis.
💉 Why does the BCG leave a mark?
Because it causes a local reaction in the body.

In countries where tuberculosis is rare (like the United States and Germany), the vaccine is not routinely given to all babies
It’s limited to risk groups.
As a result, many people simply never received the BCG, so they don’t have the mark

🤔 Why don’t other vaccines leave a mark?
Because BCG is applied in a different way (intradermally, very superficially), which creates a more visible local reaction than most other vaccines.

🧠 Interesting facts
The mark usually appears weeks after the vaccination.
Not everyone develops a scar — and that doesn’t mean the vaccine failed.

When it’s applied, the body reacts to “learn” how to defend itself.
This causes inflammation at the site, which turns into a small sore and then heals.
The remaining scar is exactly that little mark.
