This is my view, also. In the Odyssey, Menelaus tells us how he amassed his fortune by plundering up and down the Eastern Mediterranean coast. Video of him warming up prior to coming out do not show any problems. He is throwing several left leg kicks planted firmly on his right leg in ways he could not once the fight started.

The problem taking off his shoes is pretty obvious -- its possible he did the damage in the locker room while warming up but thought he would try to gut it out because he knew "Scam" would be screamed if he said he was injured warming up and couldn't fight.

Then the first flying kick in Round 1 either showed he couldn't or he hurt it further.

Holloway commented after the fight that his lack of activity during the walkup and when entering the ring was noticeable to him -- very un-Connor-like. He expected the first flying leg kick -- sort of a McGregor staple at the opening bell. But then realized pretty quickly he was hurt.
