Any company that didn't see this coming a long way off needs to hang out with much better accountants...
Effectively handing a blank cheque to a bunch of AI grifters isn't a sensible financial strategy at the best of times...
Big glass of cold water thrown in my face.
Found an error in our financial projections late last night. Accountant was offline. Asked Claude to model the impact on revenue, cash, and EBITDA.
It gave me a catastrophic answer. And was so damn confident about it.
I legit spiraled for 2-3 hours, even got @thesamparr involved (stupidly).
Accountant finally called. Claude was completely wrong.
When I showed it the mistake, it apologized and said it would never do that again.
I lost a few years off my life, and needed Sam to talk me off a ledge, both unnecessarily.
Good reminder, even opus 4.8 has a long way to go…
And having a co-founder to balance out your panic attacks is priceless.
Make me feel like less of an idiot and share your ai disaster stories please. 🙏
UK tax has gone up significantly over the last 25 years
But the tax paid by the average UK worker has not
This apparent miracle was achieved by taxing “other people”: higher earners, capital, property, banks, etc
The strategy has run out of road
A 🧵 on what happens next.
Never ever ever consider paying fees for a trust to ‘protect’ your assets from tax or care home fees https://t.co/sB91Cj3AI3 the only people who make money are the scammers who sell it to you and your children will pay the price.
Companies House has now alerted all five million UK companies of the vulnerability that let anyone, anywhere in the world, access the private dashboard of any company.
Meaning: view confidential personal information, modify company/director details, even file accounts.
If there's a bit of advice I give more than any other, it's not to let the tax tail wag the commercial dog...
(Although I don't put it quite as memorably as that.)
Roseberry Topping. The #linocut print is inspired by some of the views along the #ClevelandWay. I loved the contrast of the silhouette of #RoseberryTopping against the crisscross of flat fields. Original prints are available signed & numbered in my online shop.

I see we're having another day talking about how much money private school parents spend on fees.
That's not the scandal.
The real scandal is how little govts of all political shades have invested in state schools and FE Colleges over the last several decades.

This legal challenge is doomed. Nobody has ever overturned a tax in the UK courts or ECHR using on human rights arguments. Not once.
