The amount of slander Victor Wembanyama is getting for his first-ever Finals run is crazy. 🤯
For perspective:
🔸 Shaq made his first Finals at 22 and got swept 4-0
🔸 LeBron made his first Finals at 23 and got swept 4-0
🔸 Jordan didn’t reach the Finals until age 27
🔸 Jokic didn’t reach the Finals until age 27
🔸 Curry didn’t reach the Finals until age 26
At just 22 years old, this dude already broke records and carried his team to the biggest stage in basketball.
Brandon Valenzuela needs to stay on the roster when Alejandro Kirk returns.
I really don't care about "asset management" talk. The #BlueJays need to win as many baseball games as possible and Valenzuela clearly gives them the best chance to do that.
Oh man, still hoping Hoffman can find someway to turn things around as you gotta believe this is a mental issue after game 7. But on a human level, it's getting hard to watch a pitcher get rocked like this over and over
@lssambrose@BlueJays Moreso annoyed with Schneider for the bullpen usage but also idk bunting Valenzuela when he’s only bunted once in his minor league career is a tough call. He should know how to but bunting is frowned in the analytics era, so maybe guys don’t practice it much anymore, I don’t know
To be honest, that entire Macko-Rodriguez sequence felt like a classic case of analytics dictating that the rookie shouldn’t have been exposed to Aaron Judge.
However, in reality, Y-Rod was evidently not the right call. Macko probably should’ve had a chance to finish the job.
Also, you have a string of lefties coming up and Yankees are waiting for the opportunity to bring Grisham in, why would you help him. Obviously Yariel pitched terribly, but this game is on Schneider, you don’t always have to play matchups
This inning is on John Schneider, Macko was pitching great, the Yankees lineup is almost all lefties and you pull Macko for Rodriguez because Macko is lefty and you didn’t want him to face Judge? Knowing full well that even Judge hits a home run, you still lead.
I really want to be a fan of varsho but at-bats like that were what he gave us all postseason last year with runners in scoring position and less than two outs
