Regarding the Costumes in Scarlet Heart Thailand ~

Following the release of the #ScarletHeartTH trailer, discussions and concerns have emerged among Myanmar fans regarding certain costumes that appear to resemble traditional Myanmar attire.

As someone from Myanmar, I deeply value our country’s history and cultural heritage. I also understand the desire to see our traditions properly acknowledged and represented with historical accuracy.

At the same time, this is a series we have been looking forward to for more than two years, and I sincerely hope to see it succeed.

However, at this stage, we have only seen the trailer, and I believe we do not yet have enough information to fully understand the production team’s decisions regarding costume design.

The series has been described as being set in the 13th century, while some of the costumes have been noted for their resemblance to traditional Myanmar attire associated with the 19th-century Yadanabon era.

This is certainly a matter worthy of further historical and cultural examination.

Nevertheless, we cannot yet confirm which historical periods or cultures the production team used as references, whether cultural consultants were involved, or whether appropriate cultural acknowledgments will be included in the series.

The absence of cultural credits in a trailer does not necessarily mean that no acknowledgment will be given in the series. Likewise, we cannot assume that such acknowledgment has already been arranged.

We sincerely hope that @GMMTV will provide appropriate clarification regarding the historical background and cultural references behind the costume designs.

If traditional Myanmar attire has indeed served as an inspiration, we hope its cultural origins will be properly recognized and acknowledged.

We also respect the concerns raised by Myanmar fans who have been discussing this issue. Although perspectives may differ, we understand that these discussions come from a shared desire to preserve and respect our cultural heritage.

Supporting the artists we love and valuing our country’s cultural heritage are not mutually exclusive. We can appreciate and respect both.

As more information becomes available, we hope that discussions can continue constructively, guided by historical evidence and mutual respect.

Above all, we respect everyone’s feelings and perspectives, and we sincerely hope that this matter will not lead to unnecessary conflict or division among fans.
