🔥🌍 As we endure one heatwave after another, with wildfires destroying nature and homes across Europe, we have every right to demand stronger action from our governments. One of the most ambitious responses came from the EU in the form of the European Green Deal, with its objective of climate neutrality by 2050 - but how well are member states actually implementing its key policies? 🔎 The European Green Deal tracker measures progress in implementing the EGD at the national level through an indicator-based index and case studies.

It analyses National Energy and Climate Plans (#NECPs) to provide an overview of member states’ progress across 16 key dimensions, including emission reduction, #Renewable energy, energy efficiency and #SocialJustice.

→ The main takeaways? Despite strong performances by many countries, no country can be called a "leader".

👎 Worryingly, some countries show limited progress towards and commitment to implementing the European Green Deal.

In addition to the analysis across 16 key dimensions, the policy study also includes case studies for five member states (Italy 🇮🇹, Sweden 🇸🇪, Slovakia 🇸🇰, Bulgaria 🇧🇬 and Poland 🇵🇱), which complement the findings from the index by providing a more in-depth understanding of EGD policies and national implementation dynamics in four policy areas:
