Bold, Brave, Confident and Determined!
Menarche(onset of menstruation) can feel like a storm of emotions for most young girls that have not been mentally prepared.
Emotions ranging from shame, fear and guilt and feeling anxious can affect their mental health drastically.
Our Team Representative interacted with pupils of St Joseph’s Nsambya about how well they can mentally prepare for this stage in their lives.
Let’s groom communities of girls mentally ready for these critical stages in their lives with at most bravery, boldness and confidence❤️
It’s a call to each one of us regardless of your gender to be there for every young girl during this vulnerable time, it’s also important to have the younger generation grow while understanding that what they go through is VERY NORMAL and they don’t have to feel ashamed by that.
STORY TIME ISH!💖
Team Member: Who can tell me one thing they know about menstrual periods?
Bold girl: When I am at school, I don’t have to tell my male teachers about my period.
Young girls today, consume too much false information especially when it comes to their bodies.
Our goal during this camp was to not only address the misconceptions around menstrual periods but also mental health effects that result from unaddressed menstrual period challenges.
