@Trianglemancsd I see the value in this ONLY AFTER lots and lots of time are spent on number combinations. My goal would be for students to look for the combos of 10, rather than trying to count dots. But we would have spent LOTS of time having these discussions before this slide!!!
@CallMeMoprah As a teacher who struggled with kids learning the "traditional" algorithm, I adopted this method before it became more common. Instead of memorizing a procedure, kids saw that in 679, there are 100 5's, then 30 5's, then 5 5's.
@frankly_built As a parent to one of those kids and a teacher, I applaud you for your kindness and generosity. This visit will stick with these kids forever!!!
